Anyone know of any good books to read, or articles that talk about gambling and how odds work, how the over under works and where you can find information on that. I have just started betting at a site and I am confused by the term parlay and over under and who the favorite is, how much you will win if you win the bet and all that stuff.
Thanks!

To learn about specific rules obout certain forms of gambling, I'd suggest looking through Wikipedia. They offer some really decent information and you'll know it's, usually, not biassed. For example, you wanted to know what parlay was: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parlay_(gambling) Wikipedia article on odds (This one might be too technical): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OddsBut for online poker there's an even better resource than wikipedia: http://www.thepokerbank.com/I hope you got some help from all of this

It depends on what you are betting at of course... if you are betting on sport matches, then study the statistics of that particular sport, the different teams etc.. same for boxing/ufc etc. Learning about what gambling itself is good but you must know your game.

I dont think you need book to learn about that, you can just search it on internet, its all very clear and by the time you will master it, and it takes some times to,know all of the term meaning, the odds is made by booker they have their market prediction about the match, little clue if you want to bet on soccer, the odds of the game can change while the match is playing, so if you are not sure what to bet you can observe first

Thanks. I think this is what I need. Just walking into gambling here and betting on sports I have only done stuff like Poker and little things like that where there are no odds or different payouts depending on the odds. Any recommendations on how to beat the odds? Or is it just the same do research on the team and see how they are doing?

I don't think you can learn gambling anywhere in any institution since there is nothing constant in many gambling games. All you learn is experience being active for all your time spent. In sports betting even big tipsters fail to interpretate correctly many times. If there was such institution then gambling casinos were closed and bankrupted long time ago.

Read basics about gambling and theory of probability on wikipedia or other sources, it will help you to get understanding of basic concepts, then you can read articles about specific games and strategies for them. When you'll start gambling, play with small sums at first, and analyze if you made any mistakes.

I agree to some replies and it is much easier and have more tutorials and guidelines you will saw on the internet but when in the guidelines on some book are different from the internet some of them are very helpful and you will only read if you bought a book of it.So if you habe book it is much better and to have an internet access for what method and tutorials you need for .

I suggest if you don't know betting or gambling then consider your lucky and don't go for it because you may start it for fun purpose but at the end, you may or may not addict to these games. If you addict to these games, then you will lose a lot of money. if you can, it is better to avoid it and find some other fun activities to spend your free time.

It depends what game you want to master. You want to test every casino games or have some specific games on mind? By the terms you posted you are interested in sport betting. This site can be useful for you: http://www.ildado.com/sports_betting_glossary.htmlIt is a glossary containing probably every sport betting term worth knowing.

A simple Google search for the specific topic should be enough. You don't really need to create this topic. For example: http://www.lmgtfy.com/?q=What+is+parlay+%3F and http://www.lmgtfy.com/?q=Sport+betting+terms+explained. Anyway, if you have the time to learn the terms used in gambling, I'd suggest you to also check out terms used in trading because trading is a better alternative to invest your Bitcoin in. I mean to say that gambling is too risky. For someone who like to learn (hopefully you), should learn something better.

I assume by the context of OP's post he is talking about sports betting.
To understand the main terms, you don't need any books, just do a quick google search. The easiest thing to bet on is ML or moneyline, which is which team will win in the end.
However, to gain the skill of sports betting, you just have to practice betting and research before every game. Eventually, you will be good at spotting potential upsets or obvious wins. There are books that you can read, but I'd say to practice betting with small amounts first, then getting big.
It also helps if you are interested in watching sports. Good luck!

Google is your friend mate. Most the usual gambling terms online that you need to know the meaning are just one search away. Actually some of the terms you mentioned are pointing to sports betting. Just do regular bets at sports betting and soon you will realized much deeper the meanings of other terms. I too didn't familiar with the terms used but by just reading those terms in some of the posts here I understand what it is even without searching what those terms really means.

You do not need a book just search using google and you will find answers about parlay, over, under etc etc. But to give you a brief description about parlay is you need to bet to two or more games, the more games you parlay the bigger the reward you will get if all those game will win. Lets just say you parlay 3 teams, You will win your bet if those 3 teams will win, but if one of them lost then you will lose also your bet even the 2 game will win.

I feel that almost every site tends to explain all those things very well on the site itself. Thats one way they get people introduced to gamble. Would however put in a Psychology book for poker: The Poker Mindset: Essential Attitudes for Poker Success , But this very well applies for any other form of gambling too.

maybe the book or some tutorial if for some old time gambling, and its not for this time because i see that gambling itself is being growth form time to time so the best guideline or tutorial for playing gambling is trial and error like other jobs. maybe with some practice, we can learn new strategy that can work with us and win the games.
