Has anyone contacted Truecrypt and asked them if they accept bitcoin donations? With them being solely based around encryption I would have thought they would jump all over bitcoin, but I see no mention of it on their website...

There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, which will follow the rules of the network no matter what miners do. Even if every miner decided to create 1000 bitcoins per block, full nodes would stick to the rules and reject those blocks.

When I included them in my book, I wrote to them and suggested that they consider accepting BTC donations. I have not heard anything.
when I write people no adays I point out that it is a pool of money that is more than 1 billion USD. that usually gets their attention. so if you write to them note that.

I'm too lazy to write, but if you point them to this thread then I should say that I'm gonna donate for a great software that is keeping my bitcoins safe.
[edit] Maybe should mention that it doesn't really matter if they believe in Bitcoin or not. They're welcome to exchange them for dollars as soon as the bitcoins reach their wallet.

I also dropped them a message asking for them to accept Bitcoin donations, and also pointed to this thread. So if others would like to donate to them either message them directly or let it be known here I've been using TrueCrypt for quite a while to secure my data.

I also wrote them about accepting Bitcoin donations, as I guess that a lot of Truecrypt users are also familiar with Bitcoin and vice-versa. Haven't heard anything back.

Hmm, can we force them to take our donations? Kidding aside, just dropped them another email...

I'd certainly donate. That software is a lifesaver, but I'm a little too paranoid to have "Truecrypt" written in stone on my credit card statement.
