Hi!
We are running a small crypto exchange, SpaceBTC, and one thing we most sorely lack is a social platform for our users.
We don't know what is more desired by the userbase, however, and what would be most convenient for a small exchange - a chat or a forum. BTC-E has a rather active chat that provides users with a good way to communicate quickly, but I am not sure moderating it 24/7 is possible, given that a lot of our clients are from non-English speaking countries.
A forum is certainly easier to moderate, easier to set up due to preexisting, time-tested forum platforms, but, I am afraid, won't be able to provide the same "fast" experience a chat can because of our low user count.

Speaking of moderation, we don't want to censor anyone, the only prohibited content will be CP and spam.

What do you think? What platform would you recommend?

You should do it according to your situations, if you have active moderators that can provide good support to your users then a chat would probably be better, but if you think the moderators are not always available so you guys better try managing a forum for the users to ask their questions and inquiries and that would be easier to moderate for a team mostly inactive because of personal reasons.

If it's a crypto-exchange site I think the Chat option is the most adviced. When people want to talk on this kind of site, they want fast replies and an active support if possible.

Forum is to discuss ideas, news, projects... I think a forum on a exchange makes no sense.

What about a telegram group or something like that?

In a chat you will see a lot of flood, in a forum you just will see a desert.

I guess both are needed,

With moderated forum, you can attract new users for being your member and it encourages a lot of the people in the various world.

Honestly, we are no need chat moderated but just focussing on your support, because we need active support can help me for fixing my problem if I got some in your site.

A fast and responsive support chat would be great for an exchange website because mostly the users need quick help in exchanges as they are maybe not able to wait that long for posting a question in a forum and then get a reply later on, so people would better like a chat support rather than a forum.

Making a forum for an exchange doesn't worth, for users that are registered in your exchange it's better to make a chat.

See yobit or poloniex they have chat/trollbox where people can chat/ask/answer for different things, also there are moderators too.

P.S the bitcoin price is not being showed correctly, because the visitors don't know at what currency it is showing, i think it is € not $.

If global languages is your problem off why you just make an english as main languages in your site? And follow other site who use trollbox where traders can mingle and share their thoughs, and so by that you wouldn't get any problem for different laungages aswll as you wouldn't need to hire some people for desired laungages, 1 troll box is enough and few moderators and surely that can help you out for your plans.

Of course you'll need basic moderation for a forum, otherwise people will start spamming ASCII images and other things that will make people less likely to use your site. Just be sure to find unbiased moderators, otherwise shit happens that way as well. I find unmoderated trollboxes to be very unpleasant places to be most of the time. Content always gets through censors somehow, and it's a basic defense at best.

I think chat is faster and better solution than having forum, in chat also may not need to hire moderator to keep watching all trolls 24x7. Within script you can neglect few offensive words, characters, external links etc. Most of the time in chat people try to promote their own links or some shorten links, you can have chat script which doesn't support typing url, i have seen few have done this.

For non-english users, you can make one non-english chat tab and for english global user another chat tab so that there will not be mix-matched between two language users.

Since this is the case, then I would definitely go for Chat. It's more convenient and faster.
It doesn't require a user to visit a particular site + sign-in + post + wait for replies , just to talk to someone.
With chat, it could be done right on the exchange. As for moderation on chat, that's not really much of a concern.
What I would suggest to focus into is Support. Support must be responsive and readily available.

A chatbox is enough. Non english speaking somehow knows how to chat an understandable english since in the first place they are in an english language exchange.

But if you will insist and really preferred having a forum then cover the holes first. What stopping you from making one, What are the problems might occur, or anything else concerns about it. After analyzing those problems then have a brainstorming on you together with your team on how you will handle those holes to make it comfortable at both parties.

If there's still problems that stopping you from making a chatbox or forum then you are not ready yet to fully operate.

A chat system would be better for now till you don't have enough moderators for a forum and don't get an idea of how many users are active on the chat messenger. A forum could be spammed badly (if there are too many members registered) in comparison to a chat system and you could possibly have a waiting period for users who might spam the chat system.

ChatBox actually is good feature to implement to exchange site, for other example poloniex, bitcoin.id, although you can't manage it 24/7 you can hire someone. People who non-english usually understand even little bit English language(like me for example).
Use forum is good idea too, maybe you can held some pay per post or giveaway on the forum for attract more people to know and use your exchange service.

As for support, we already have a separate live chat specifically for customers having questions for our team.

Yeah, your suggestion is very pleasant and made everyone would much more prefer to use sites that will be created or in the manager by the CO-OP. features that are extremely fun is to have 24 hour services, so that all members feel safe and comfortable, and the site did have to have a live chat or chat for all members. In order to get a good impression

that would be a good decided that you have made , providing a live is a good choice as your website is a crypto-exchange and also it's great if you have a separated live chat definitely made for customer support .

That is a better idea, because you are running an exchange where people might have questions while trading any coin so a live chat or a simple admin chat system would be a better help for them.

Having such a chat option is really good. This usually buy some time to users who just wanted to have a chitchat.

It is also a good way to have any promotions for your sites upcoming events. Since this users are usually active they xan easily see the promotions.

What platform? Basically for me you can use a discord since it is very easy for the admin of that group to create subs for different type of users or topics
