it depends on your pc. as long as you have anti virus and your pc is clean it is safe. also don't visit some sites that cannot be trust from your bitcoin. Also if you need more secure your bitcoin you download more safe wallet that has 2FA and security key and don't tell anyone your password.
Even if you use Bitcoin through Tor, the way transactions are handled by the network makes anonymity difficult to achieve. Do not expect your transactions to be anonymous unless you really know what you're doing.

I believe that offline wallet whether it's a paper wallet or hardware wallet is a secure way of storing Bitcoins. I am not a great fan of holding funds on any exchange or web Wallet service provider because you are not aware of the security precautions taken by that website. However, Crypto is all about self-responsibility and hence one should take extreme precaution while dealing with his funds because possibly he might not be able to recover his funds if lost.

There is never a good and secure place to store your Bitcoin. Every system have vulnerable and it really comes down to how you handle it. By far Bitcoin Core is one of the safest if you know how to protect your computer and your wallets - like what isen mentioned.

However, I wouldn't recommend you to store all your Bitcoin in one place/machine. If you have a lot of Bitcoin (who know how much for how long?), you should spread them between a lot of wallets ranging from Bitcoin Core to hardware wallet. This way if something bad happen to one of your machine or wallet, you still have some Bitcoin left.
I agree with your opinion mate. Pro's will always tell us to not put all our funds in one place or wallet because we don't know if there will be a vulnerability of a specific walket in the near future so it is better to diversify funds. I am not an expert but I never have a problem using Mycelium and Coinomi ever since I am into this cryptocurrency industry and I like the way it's features would help it's users.

it depends on your pc. as long as you have anti virus and your pc is clean it is safe.
There are viruses that can't be detected by simple anti virus. They are good in hiding so even you purchase one of it that's not enough to make your PC secure.

If you will store a lot of bitcoin on your desktop wallet, its better if that desktop or laptop doesn't have access to internet.

also don't visit some sites that cannot be trust from your bitcoin.
Someone who's visiting a website can't say that it can't be trusted by "bitcoin" but it's your software installed/anti virus that's detecting if those websites can't be trusted.

Also if you need more secure your bitcoin you download more safe wallet that has 2FA and security key and don't tell anyone your password.
Just buy hardware wallet.

Any wallet software has Bug! If you have a large amount of bitcoin, you should split it up for safekeeping, so it's always safer!

A handy and safe purse if used correctly. But there is something that applies to every wallet. Security is very important. Do not download anything wrong with your computer.

I am looking for the best wallet to safely store my bitcoin for the next lot of years (who knows how long) is bitcoin core a safe place to do this or should i look at others?

core wallet itself is surely safe, but it's as safe as your computer is. Are you sure you have no viruses in it? If that is the case and you have the required memory to sync whole blockchain, it's a safe bet

i think bitcoin core is the official desktop wallet for bitcoin. You can see the link to the bitcoin core is posted in this bitcointalk.
the most important thing is you must protect your wallet, and you should never expose your seed or key to another website.
Backup your wallet info and store it in different safe places.

I think it will be safe if you can remember your account and your password too and make sure your computer does not have a virus that can record all your activities, especially those associated with your bitcoin. so make sure your account is well saved so you can use it again.

Think about it, there is something absolutely safe in your life, I think it can not be absolute, safer if you have a clean computer and make it your wallet hidden. Just a usb is the only way to store all your coins.

I always store bitcoins at indodax.com. indodax is the storage and exchange of bitcoins into fiat currency, and the only storage available in my country. I think it's very safe. my advice should be to use official storage from your own country.

Why don't you buy a simple hardware wallet? You don't need to store private keys, laptops ecc.. A simple Ledger or Trezor and you will be ok and safe for the next 10-20 years Cheesy
Keep in mind to store recovery seed, and nothing else needed to do Cheesy

I don't agree. All the system has vulnerability. As long as the privacy is strong you can't trust nothing.

I don't think so also. indodax.com could be a better solution for your problem. Please concern with the expert.

You can try desktop wallet. If your pc is clean, has an antivirus, less chance of hack it will be the best option.

You should trust the big exchanges like Bittrex and Binance. I've been holding Bitcoin on my Bittrex wallet for over a year and my Bitcoin properties are still intact and not hacked by hackers. so the wallet on the big exchange is safe

it's not about the wallet you are using but it's all about your pc and how you take care if your kets and password. Buying ledger is not really recommended to you to buy but just buying a legite anti virus and making your pc clean then that will be safe and you can now use it for a long time.
