How do you understand "be united under the same body"?

I do not understand why so many topics related to religion? We are not in the seminary. You understand that such issues cause strong opposition to different people and do not bear any positive impact in society. They are only discord. If you really are interested, why do not you ask about it at the competent person, such as a priest?

How about uniting under a more universel value, like being human? If you unite under Christianity, some other will unite under Islam and some other will unite under Judaism and so on... What then? Convert everyone or kill the rest? We've tried this since the beginning. It didn't work.

They cannot become one body. They've tried that for last 500 years  A church union? That could exist but there would be many disagreements.

Go to Northern Ireland. They look the same, smell the same, eat the same, talk the same and worship the same fictional entity in the sky. Does that stop them from slaughtering each other? Well, it's on hiatus for now. Humans seem to be hard wired to get tribal and if there aren't enough differences then they'll invent them.

Far better for Jesus to come back and tell everyone that it was all a bit of fun that got out of hand. Now go and become rational and sod off.

I think so but it will be very difficult to accomplish.
First, there are literally thousands of Christian denominations in the world.
Second, all of them have their own leaders, traditions, rituals etc.
How to achieve unity?
Who will unite them?
They will have to find common goal, find something what bring them together and not what separate them.
It's the fact that Christianity declining around the world.
People see religious fights, corruption, disunity and don't trust church any more.
People divided original church and I think that only Holy spirit, if Christians will be ope, can guide all churches to new unity.
There is no other way for unity here.

Never this will not happen to all the churches were united in one. This kind of power over people, and different groups receive from the churches of their benefits. Church - this is a very profitable organization

Not all, but only a certain part. Although if you are on the chaos in the government, so it was all 25 years of its independence

And if in fact - that the church will never be united into one. Every religious movement reads the Bible differently.

Yeah. I agree that even how churches have tried to become one body many years ago, they still end up disunited. It is because of the differences on each group's belief. Also by the many contradictions relating to the superiority of each belief of each group and the unceasing arguments about religion, about the existence of humanity, the laws, the nature, etc. which each have many interpretations that are being still in argument at present.

They cannot become one body. They've tried that for last 500 years   A church union? That could exist but there would be many disagreements.  

Less than 100 years really... it is only in modern times that the various branches of Christianity have tried to merge... up until the early-mid 1900's, everyone identified as their denomination (i.e. Catholic, Baptist, Evangelical, etc)... people were very divisive, and fought against the other denominations... it was only around WWII that religious people tried to unite under the flag of "Christianity"

The main reason for bringing everyone under the flag of "Christian" was to outnumber the Muslims on polls... If you put Muslims vs Catholic vs Protestant vs Jehovah's Witness, etc... Muslims win... but if it is Muslims vs All Christians united... then Christians outnumber the Muslims... so its basically a trick to show higher numbers of followers

You can also blame those "godless communists" for bringing Christians together... you know... gotta put "in sky-god we trust" on the money so everyone knows god loves our money more than that evil communist money


As for actually bringing Christians together to believe the same stuff... that'll never happen... the reason for 4,000+ Christian denominations is that they DONT believe the same stuff... they have different interpretations, and believe different things...

Seriously... the head of the Anglican church came out as agnostic! (The Archbishop of Canterbury, leader of 80,000,000 "Christians")
You can't possibly unite people who believe in god, with ones who don't... that's simply not possible... why would you even suggest such a thing?
