At the Blockchain Money Conference in London held yesterday and today, after an enthusiastic presentation on Bitcoin’s benefits, specifically focusing on its ability to increase economic freedom which, according to Roger Ver’s presentation, increases incomes, lowers mortality rates, decreases wars “overall”, among other benefits, Roger stated in response to a question that his biggest disappointment was Core’s take on scalability as it did not “keep up with consumer demand.”

Roger stated that he questioned “the morals of the people who have come up with [segwit]” before adding that we “should not trust anyone who does not support open discussion.” He continued to state that there has been “active suppression of dissenting opinion” which has given an appearance of the scalability issue being addressed.

I think the way Core has gone about things in the past has left a nasty smell occasionally, however I don't think it's been as consistently pathetic and vituperative as their opposition. If they wanted the moral high ground they could've chosen a better way to go around it by actually seeking it out.

Much of the 'consumer demand' is probably big blockers nailing the network to make a point. And shit like this is contemptible http://www.newsbtc.com/2016/11/06/roger-ver-considers-offering-double-block-rewards-bitcoin-miners/

I'd favour larger blocks as a nice can kick but perhaps that ship has sailed. If only Satoshi had rolled it back to 2-5mb this would still be a non issue and perhaps in reality it is still a non issue that's easily bloated and hijacked by people with an agenda.

Nobody is perfect, including Core devs and Satoshi, but what we know is, they are the best in the game, delivering solid software. The fact that Roger Ver questions this software because of some ridiculous moral judgement that he does there, is just proof that the guy is losing it. He should stop fucking around and support Segwit already.

I would like to see what gmaxwell and the other Core developers' response to this is. Calling Segwit a "bait and switch" seems a little unfair. Everyone is free to check and look at the code to see for themselves. I am not a coder so it would be nice for someone who is neutral to comment on Roger Ver's bait and switch statement.

It's possible that Ver is being unfairly maligned there, the reporter misinterpreted what's actually on offer. Although, I'm sufficiently convinced of Ver's bad intentions that I would not put it past him to have arranged the whole episode himself, in order to claim "people spread lies about me". If playground whispering tactics are all he has, he's already lost.

Indeed. It's not as if crypto reporting has much or any relationship with reality most of the time. Even if he himself is whiter than white, he seems to have gathered enough weirdoids to whip up pointless strife without his consent for no constructive ends.

The Bitcoin Judas cannot get over the fact that open discussion is encouraged, but not if it is done on a forum meant for Bitcoin. During the

Bitcoin XT fiasco, some people wanted to use Bitcointalk.org and /r/Bitcoin on Reddit to hijack the forum to promote Bitcoin XT. This was frown

upon, because it was seen as a competitor Alt coin. So Roger Ver created his own forum to encourage "Open debate".... The reasoning behind that

is a bit flawed, but it turns out that his forum are now used by the competitors {Bitcoin Unlimited} ....So the fight is on, to see who will win the

heart of the Bitcoin community. { Bitcoin Core VS Bitcoin Unlimited }  Wink

"competitors"Huh?

i guess you missed the point that bitcoin should be a diverse decentralized network..
seems you want dictatorship and think core should be the king.. check whos paying the kings ransom.. and see the bait and switch.

and you wonder why there is a debate concerning calling anything not core an alt.

the funny part is bitcoinJ, bitcoin classic, bitcointx bitcoin unlimited, etc,etc all actually run on bitcoins mainnet. and actually want to use the consensus mechanism to upgrade the network of nodes. yet so far core are the ones telling everyone that node consensus is not needed for their own features and to voice hostility to anyone else thats not core using the mainnet, and try to get them to fork off..

wake up and smell the deception. smell the loss of bitcoins ethos every time you call anything "competition"

bitcoinJ and bitcoinXT were thrown aside by the R3CKed propaganda.. yet core devs such as pieter wuille, gmaxwell, etc are paid by.. guess who R3, and other banking groups under the DAH banner

yep the bait and switch happened and now core are trying to get everyone to give 100% dictatorial power to the core devs paid by banks.

wake up

I DO NOT TRADE OR ACT AS ESCROW ON THIS FORUM EVER.
Please do your own research & respect what is written here as both opinion & information gleaned from experience. many people replying with insults but no on-topic content substance, automatically are 'facepalmed' and yawned at

I have a lot more trust in Core to do the right things the right way for the good of the community.

The alternatives stink tbh, I don't trust any of them.

Iti s a competition and it's ok. People can freely run any nodes they want to support any software. Most people run Core nodes because Core devs have demonstrated to be the most competent thus far. It's as simple as that.

Some more drama it seems. I agree that if most people have core it is for something. However one should consider alternatives and not discard anything
