Yeah, that was likely a side effect of miners failing to see the notice about the mandatory upgrade before block 10k... I know I missed it and while not mining all my TRC services got stuck.

I need to pay more attention!

No, it means difficulty is high.

Or, it possibly means its too cheap ...

Terracoin difficulty swings fast - which is why it is not less profitable than BTC (http://www.coinchoose.com)
