Greetings, I live in the USA, and heard the Joe Rogan / Andreas M. Antonopoulos podcast interview. He said his bitcoins are associated with debit card - he can make purchases with a regular looking debit card in USD currency, that is pulling funds from a bitcoin account. How can I get such a set up going? Where and how to buy bitcoins that can be linked to a card? Thank you for simple explanations.

Something similar to the Xapo system, or the Xapo system itself would be something you would more than likely be considering as a candidate for what you want to do. This system gives you a debit card that withdraws from your account every time you make a USD purchase.

For sure he is talking about a service just like what xapo is providing the bitcoin debit card. You can just simply visit their website xapo.com and try to apply the bitcoin debit card on your own. Don't use any other third party websites if they don't require because a lot of scammers are interested for those people like you.

Whole whole process of owning debit/credit card associated with your bitcoin stash and ability to use it to buy everything FIAT money can purchase is convenient. But at the same time it not exactly why bitcoin was created in the first place and I am not a big fan of it and you shouldn't be too. It is basically not ideal use of your Bitcoin - we shouldn't be doing this - it is harmful for direct adoption of Bitcoin. Do we really want to be linked to debit cards forever?

You can simply just start a wallet with blockchain.info and meet up to buy bitcoins with cash using localbitcoins.com. It is inconvenient but doable.

Did you even bother to read the OP? The member is not just looking for a place to buy or store bitcoins they are looking for a way to setup a bitcoin debit card account. @turnipbeet, The bitcoin debit card i have has to be "loaded" before use and i can easily do this within the bitcoin wallet the card is connected to. I use Coinjar for this but i don't believe they are available in the US yet.

Not a paid signature, just added to promote Bitcoin.com

The cheapest I have come across so far is uquid.com and coinizy.com
coinizy even allows you to load your card with PayPal if you wish.

I think the safest way to buy bitcoin with your debit card/ credit card, You should buy from coinbase or you can try circle. This sites are legit and no issue with them. But don't ever send or receive direct bitcoin from any gambling sites. If you use any gambling site better use a third party wallet like Electrum.
