I did not understand good enough - is bitcoin allowed in the country and now citizens can make money with bitcoin or bitcoin will be accepted as payment in Dubai hotels and for services? Well, both variands seem good.
Hope it will make bitcoin's price to grow and will affect good on bitcoin in the point of it's development.

Yes, I didn't understand very well also, but I don't think the hotels and another stores will accept BTCs soon there. They want to use BTC technology to increase the tourism there, but don't mention if we could use BTCs to pay on restaurant, hotels, etc...

I think those news are speculative, the reality is different from what they are saying.

Every expand of bitcoin is a great news, Dubai is center of Arab world, they build that city every year higher and higher. They have a lot of foreigners that works there, from almost every part of the world ( mostly poor part ) and for them this is great thing, they will send money to their families in more simpler and cheaper way.
Slowly bitcoin is infiltrating in big cities, just recently New York made some laws about bitcoin, now Dubai, Rio has many stores, looks like big cities are leading in adaptation, look they should. In the end rest of us will come in line definitely.

I think this is the old story but it is still good news for those who did not know.. and i hope more countries will accept bitcoin without banning because bitcoin is more active in gambling than buying or shopping..
And more good news if bitcoin will be have atm near to my place and banks for bitcoin so that more trust more people and investors will come..

I can't wait for the day when bitcoin is more widely accepted for everyday items across the globe, imagine never having to be bothered by exchange rates again when you travel.  It would be like the Euro 2.0 without the limitations.

Yes, this is the grate news for bitcoin.

If Dubai and Norway has started to accept bitcoin does it mean that this was the reason of the recent pump of the price? Both countries are rich and spending a little in bitcoin wouldn't hurt them.

Nicely f***ing put rofl. Durp.

That and the US has a freaking lunatic at the wheel now haha.

Exactly. Did the whole city just decide that they were now going to accept bitcoins? How exactly does that work?

I've been to dubai. It's really hot there... you get roasted, if you are not in a tower or car with air condition.

Yeah, it's a great way to import more money in form of bitcoin Cheesy

It's often seen that getting tourist to come is difficult and those that do manage to come often struggle with currency fluctuations, recent ones being when euro broke down, and in India news which is getting global attention Rs. 500 and 1000 notes invalid. In all this this is a welcome news that Bitcoins is accepted in dubai also now, cheers to the entire community.

Blockchain can ‘gamify’ tourism https://cointelegraph.com/news/dubai-and-norway-use-blockchain-to-redefine-tourism

it would be very good if we could start seeing bitcoin being accepted everywhere especially in these countries that have tourism, because it is super easy to spend bitcoin instead of going through all the headache of exchanging money to another money and spending that there.

Do you people read anything you're commenting on?  That article doesn't mention Bitcoin at all. They're thinking about making their own Blockchain for "Dubai Points" (whatever the fuck that is). Does nothing for us.

I think its the US election results for the sudden pump of bitcoin although this happening in Dubai and Norway is also a possibility. We can speculate anyway. But I am glad Dubai is very open to this bitcoin and willing to try it.

This could be just another gimmick and that they just want to ride the bandwagon. We keep hoping for Bitcoin to "get adopted by the mainstream" when its real strength comes from enabling markets that the banks and payment processors do not want to serve. That means the darknet markets, criminals, hackers, illegal gambling sites operating outside of regulation, etc.  When I read titles of articles like that, I just roll my eyes and ignore the news. The current centralized systems is already more efficient and cheaper to use for their use case.

I have to chuckle that so many things have happened to encourage stuff like this to be honest, really goes to show that we live in really interesting times. The compounding effects of everything are hilarious to watch.

Oh well, maybe one day I'll go to someplace like Dubai and use my Bitcoin there. That's far in the future and to be honest likely out of the cards, but I'll see.

I am sure you will be able to find someone accepting bitcoin is any country- but this does mean that the "country" accepts bitcoin. AED vs USD is extremely stable and I don't think many people in Dubai is actively seeking alternative currencies, unlike countries like Venezuela and Argentina.
