So I'm raffling my condo in Toronto, Canada. I was selling it anyway and the money was going to invested in bitcoins so might as well cut out the middle men. May go flat on my face but any questions please feel free to ask and I will do my best to answer quickly.

I think this is the right section but apologies in advance if it's not.

so you raffling a half million dollar condo, in a site that isn't even provably fair?

from your "How to play" section:

"We will even try to web cam some if not all raffle draws for high value items"

I'm wondering how this draws will occur, one that occurred to me is a lot of little pieces of paper in a bowl. This is too vague to me to invest my bitcoins in a half million dollar raffle.

and how can you prove that this is your condo? pictures of it simply doesn't prove nothing.

Good luck with your raffle.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply.

1. I have no problem verifying I own the condo with any leading member of the bitcoin community. Also, anyone in the Toronto area is more than welcome to come view the place and verify I own it too while there. But a any Canadian realtor can check it is in my name too if need be.

2. The webcam draw thing, what I was thinking was to get 2 independent members of the bitcoin community, fly them in if need be and compensate of course, and let them do the verification, make sure all is above board, and then let them pick out the winner.

3. I cannot figure out out to do a raffle as provably fair as it's not like a normal numbers game or lotto where you pick numbers. But I'm open to suggestions and willing to do that too as it would save on costs.

Thanks for your input,

Kevin

peerbet does provably fair raffles: https://peerbet.org/faq.php

maybe you can use their api to host the raffle or even partner with them for mutual advertising benefit.

Just to update here, after getting legal advice I will be cancelling the raffle and instead replacing it with a skilled based contest with an entry fee. I'm still pushing ahead with this but need to make sure we don't break any local laws in Canada. The contest will be completely fair and involved third parties in order to guarantee fairness.

Also, for some reason the forum would not let me reply to some posts because I was posting too soon. But I will reply to all the posts here today. Just updating the site first.

http://satoshiraffle.com/contest/loft-condo-in-toronto-canada/

Now a contest instead of a raffle to remain legal in Canada. Provably fair and runner-up prizes as well as an Early Bird. 0.5 BTC entry fee.
