how would one go on about connecting to a computer with SSH over a radio frequency ?

Bluetooth is another radio frequency and two computers or devices can connect to each other. Here is a useful guide about creating a PAN with bluetooth on linux: http://elinux.org/Bluetooth_Network.

Did you have a specific type radio frequency in mind?

i do, Mainly S band 2-4 GHz!  anyone got any ideas how this would be done ?
