Hi Guys

I am trying to buy a rig. I have money right now. But there is no product to buy (That is not made out of fairy dust and undefined shipping dates). I don't have much system hardware knowledge so I need a built rig with support.

From my knowledge, the best bet is Avalon. Any idea when Avalon will ship batch #4?

Please, can the BitCoinTalk-Rig-Guru come to my rescue!!!

There won't be Avalon 4. Your best bet is to buy BTC and simply hold. BFL is unreliable, I believe they'll still have trouble with their specs even at a reduced rate.

It seemed like a good idea at the time.

If it will be, it might be priced like batch 3, 75 BTC.

That is like US$10 000 at today's price!!! Still worth it if you don't have 75BTC and need to buy at todays price?

Yeah, I can sell my Avalon batch 2 for 171 BTC, actually.

It seemed like a good idea at the time.

You have 2 options if you can't afford Avalon miner batch 4 and don't want to risk it with BFL:
 - buy ASICMINER passthrough shares
 - wait for ASICMINER to release an asic product

Thanx man. This sounds like a fair plan for now. What do you make of: https://www.btcfpga.com/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=50

I was thinking buy this and $1000 worth of ASICMINER PT shares.

anyone know a reliable ASIC passthrough share source ?

and how about price ? what would a correct price be for 1/100 of a Avalon Asic miner ? - and I can scale from here ...

FCPGA seems like a best bet, but low returns... since very little chance of acquiring an avalon by myself.

FPGA's are the best thing below ASIC's, however its also quite an investment considering ASIC's are going to bring the difficulty up, you have to calculate the payment time assuming a rapidly increasing difficulty.
