There are 8.7 trillion coins minted in first block, enough to give 1000 to every person on Earth. The coin is proof of stake, but has no mining reward other than transaction fees. The coin is a fork of bitcoin and also uses 10 minute blocks, difficulty recalculation every 14 days, and the sha256 hashing algorithm. On January 1, 2019 all remaining coins will be destroyed in a Proof of Burn operation.

Interesting, but why the name?

Jack is slang for money. President Andrew Jackson is being taken off the American $20 so its partly a homage to him (Jackson was strongly opposed to central banking). Also, it just seemed like a catchy name.
