The patent describes a method for creating and storing a digital ID on a blockchain and providing the owner of the ID a way to grant permissioned access to historical data from a point in time.
Are other projects doing similar things?
What are the implications for these other projects if this patent is established?

Patents are invalid if there was published prior art.

I am confident we will find ample projects which have been working on that sort of feature and have been open source.

Open source is going to make patenting pretty much impractical.

This sounds a lot like the view key in Monero / Cryptonote. It is a provisional application likely in the United States so a prior art declaration has not been made. Does anyone have the actual application number, and where this patent was applied for?

Concerned that blockchain bloat will lead to centralization? Storing less than 4 GB of data once required the budget of a superpower and a warehouse full of punched cards. https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/8/87/IBM_card_storage.NARA.jpg https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Punched_card
