I've asked the Bitparking admin if he could extend his original deadlines given the circumstances with Vircurex, and he replied yes.
I'll keep the exchange operating for a couple of extra days to give Vircurex a chance to get back up. Once I close the trading engine I'll keep it up for withdrawals for a while then process the emergency withdrawal address. After that I'll have some simple interface for withdrawals operating until the exchange is empty. Worse case people can email
admin@bitparking.com if they can't reach the site and I'll sort it out.
Here are the messages from the website, including a new update he just posted:
2013-04-05: The Bitparking exchange is closing down. I've decided the risk involved in dealing with the current high prices for the alt coins has moved from the 'fun hobby' level the exchange originally started with and requires a more serious approach to operation. I've been in contact with the Vircurex exchange and I encourage all existing customers to move their funds and continue trading their.
The exchange will close trading Friday 5 April 2013 22:00 and new deposit addresses will not be able to be created. Trading operations will also be disabled. Withdrawals will be available for a few days after that at which point the exchange will close and all funds sent to their emergency withdrawal address. Withdrawal fees are removed during this period. Thanks for using the exchange and enjoy a better and more professional experience at Vircurex.
2013-04-06: It seems that Vircurex is down due to a server upgrade needed. I'll keep the trading engine running here until they are back up. I still suggest removing your coins and storing them locally. Deposit when you need to trade and withdraw when you are done so you are always in control of your coins.
tldr; Bitparking now will keep going till Vircurex returns. Panic averted.
