Can the Avalon's or Butterflies be used to merge mine with the other currencies?
Like Namecoin?

IIRC, you don't even have to mine BTC with them. It can mine any SHA-256 based coin.

Nope not that easy i think...

you'd have to reprogram the firmware aception work from other cc. Equals writing a new bitstream
