Hello all,
Just a question, would a AMD R9 280 GPU be decent for mining ZCash & Zclassic ?
I already have an AMD R9 280x and it is making fairly good hashrate with stock bios at 120+H/s at -i 4 Intensity
What could I expect from the 280 ? Close to if not the same Hashrate ?
I am considering buying a 2nd hand one and the specs are as follows:
Gigabyte Windforce OC Version PCI-E 3.0 REV 1.0 Radeon 3072MB GDDR5/384 bit 950MHz Base Clock 1175MHz Boost Clock
What are your opinions ?

The grue lurks in the darkest places of the earth. Its favorite diet is adventurers, but its insatiable appetite is tempered by its fear of light. No grue has ever been seen by the light of day, and few have survived its fearsome jaws to tell the tale.

Nothing ? No Answers at all... ? haha I guess a lot of people don't mine on these kind of AMD rigs All joking aside my 280x hits 180+ sol/s on Stock Bios, Stock Core Clock/Memory Clock & Default miner Intensity when mining with the Equihash Algorithm. So you should see a little under that to sum it up in basic terms.

That is a good hash rate for zec or zcl. Only problem with the 280/x is they use a lot of power, so your electricity price will be a big factor

Crypto currency enthusiast and miner since 2015. Mined approx 200 ETH during 2016 and 2017 and sold it at approximately $US40 each. Then I watched it reach $1000+ each. If anyone bothers to read this stuff pay attention to this: HODL HODL HODL HODL HODL HODL
I started mining with 1 AMD 7950 and 1 R9-280X. Then I gradually built my AMD operation into 12 R9-290s. Awesome ETH hash but ridiculous power consumption and heat. Over the last year I defected to the Nvidia team. I now use GTX 1070s. They were expensive to buy (probably a bargain now) but awesome hash rate vs. power consumption. blah blah blah blah

it's use full i use a R9280 not X version and it gets a little less then the X version does so yea it's good for Zec mining not much else it should get close to 161 Sol or higher, the x version according to others does a little more but you have to use claymore miner till Silent army matches speeds and they will and are working on it now . listen to the others also about Electricity it may eat up a lot power but if your in it for fun and don't care ROI it very use full for ZEC mining.
IM at stock setting boost is off
ZEC - Total Speed: 161.217 H/s, Total Shares: 2065, Rejected: 1, Time: 03:54 ZEC: GPU0 161.217 H/s
with boost on it went lower , i even set the memory to 1500 didn't change a thing and max the clock to 1100 speed stayed the same the only thing i didn't do yet was mode the bios.

Well I went with a 2nd hand 280x instead for only $10 more than the cost of the 280, so now I have 2x 280x Both on stock bios and stock clock settings with AMD 15.12 Drivers I am getting from 168-180 sol/s on average with intensity set at -i 2 on the both of them. I tried -i4 and it was a bit more powerful but after a little bit 1 GPU dropped off in hashing after a while to just over 110 sol/s until I gave it a 1 minute break and restart, I also tried -i 0 but only got 140-150 sol/s Even at intensity -i 2 I still get the occasional drop in hashpower on the same GPU that requires restarting of the miner and then things go back to normal which is weird. 350 sol/s from 2x 280x I am happy with, now I just need to test how many Watts it draws when mining.

that is very good. If you have cheap electricity and the 280X price is very low, you might get some ROI.

Me too. All my 280x get 180hash on 6 card rigs. BY FAR the best zcash gpu. I dont think others can compete for the price.

very intersting, which model 280x? Gigabyte Windforce and a Sapphire though the Sapphire runs a fair amount cooler.

The 280X is about 200H for the Claymore miner. That is quite good performance considering it is more than 4 years old.

I get 265H/s from stock R9 280 3gb (core 940) using ZecMiner64 @ intensity 5
