What are some good examples of Dapps that are up and running now?

I found a few here...http://www.coindesk.com/7-cool-decentralized-apps-built-ethereum/

Are there any good ones I can try out?

Are you people using any dapps/blockchain apps?  The only decentralized apps or blockchain apps that people seem to use besides digital currency are BitTorrent, Open Bazaar, and Steemit.

As far as I can tell, nobody really uses any decentralized applications built on any blockchain app platforms.  Please tell me I'm wrong.

There definitely are certain applications which would benefit greatly from the ability to interact with a blockchain.  For example, gambling sites, poker sites, prediction markets.  I know there are projects in the works for each of these things, but is one of them actually functioning today that I can use?  Why don't any of them launch?

I'm sure steemit is not decentralized, it's host somewhere, when the server(s) is down the whole contents on steemit would be inaccessible.

The DAO has been used actively in 2016. Although it's been closed, you can still play around with the code.

I agree, but Steemit is a blockchain app.  Not all blockchain applications need to be fully decentralized.  Steemit is very important, and I imagine further blockchain apps like Steemit that put digital currency in the hands of people without them having to make any financial investment.

As I understand, in the case of Steemit, the underlying cryptocurrencies are decentralized but the website is centralized?  I know some people have said that Steemit website is effectively a form of a blockchain explorer.

I asked myself same very question lately. And to figure it out tried to systematize potential use-cases of dapps:

Please let me know your thoughts!
