New temporary fix has been released to deal with the Difficulty problems. Quote from TRC DEV:

Quote
Facing with nearly 1 Thashes/s coming in & out, following the current difficulty, the simple averaging method (current timespan averaged per 30 blocks over the last 720 blocks) obviously adds huge latency when the hashrate falls under 30 Ghashes/s.

We first hoped the network would progressively keep a set of semi-permanent miners, anihilating the spike effect, but it appears almost every single miner switch to another chain when the difficulty starts to increase.

Due to the first massive spike that occured with the initial adjustment, we're still under the first 24-hours adjustment effect though (diff will adjust again in less than 8 blocks now, apparently going down, with ~ 700Ghashes/s provided).

Given that 24 hours dataset, it appears the network only keep 20 to 30 Ghashes/s permanently, while having to handle 500Ghashes/s to 1.5 Thashes/s spikes over multiple hours periods.

We'll have a close look on data samples from the next few 720 blocks periods, then eventually change the difficulty computation to hopefully handle those x50 hashrate spikes properly.

releasing a build with a temporary fix, mandatory on block 101908 (sorry for this, chain should be stucked again at this time though).

This temporary fix - until a better solution is implemented - will restore short period averaging, which should finally lead to shorter periods with higher difficulty, following massive hashrate spikes.

repositories updated, all branches concerned, building, checking and publishing builds.

Here it is on GitHub:

more or less retired.

The swing from very high difficulty down to single digits was kind of cool to watch. It's hard to get a share in when the chain is at difficulty 3 and the pool is asking for 4.
