The following week will look like this:

Of course it wouldn't actually break out of the chart, this is just me not being bothered to change the whole thing.

So what do you think?

There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, which will follow the rules of the network no matter what miners do. Even if every miner decided to create 1000 bitcoins per block, full nodes would stick to the rules and reject those blocks.

Next week everyone will simply move their asks up to 220. One guy will accidentally buy a coin.

I find that with each impending high there are quite a few individuals with quite a bit of BTC selling. The higher the price the more volatile BTC becomes.

Hey. Here's a tip.

If you're going to extrapolate an exponential curve, save yourself some trouble and use a logarithmic graph.

For example!

Edit: Let's say you're willing to throw caution to the winds and assume that the first meteoric rise in USD per BTC is representative of such rises in general (I think this is a foolish assumption at best, but whatever, let's roll with it). In that case, we can overlay the graphs, and...

...call the top at somewhere between 250 and 400.

If there is something that will make Bitcoin succeed, it is growth of utility - greater quantity and variety of goods and services offered for BTC. If there is something that will make Bitcoin fail, it is the prevalence of users convinced that BTC is a magic box that will turn them into millionaires, and of the con-artists who have followed them here to devour them.
