Has Litecoin forked? I'm hearing over at BTC-E that Litecoin has forked?

Is this true or a load of lies?

Is there a fork though? If its dropping because of speculation then i'm ok buying, I am ok with making that mistake.

But if I buy in the middle of a fork, well that will make for a rainy day.

Random troll information from BTC-e is making it over to here. There was no fork and Coblee is working on the 0.8.1 version of Litecoin.

All is well and Litecoin is heading to Gox so exciting times.

drawingthesun please leave the garbage on BTC-e or we'll end up with all that mis-information over here.

there is no fork you people , from where do you get these informations , the price is going down because allot of idiots are panicking, mostly miners , when i look to the orders book , only small sell orders are killing the LTC price in the other hand smart buyers will just use the chance and buy as much as they can , didn't you learn from last time when it went from 0.75 $ to 0.5$ people thought it is dieing and sold everything today they can only regret it .

and do not read the troll box, because a smart trader look into charts not what they say in the troll box .

Well I asked for honest reasons, a sell off is good for me as long as I don't buy crap coins, I admitted I wanted to take advantage of the situation. So I am not lying and I did come here to get a honest answer because I cannot tell if this is real or not.

Everyone over at BTC-E says fork and i'm thinking if it is a lie its too good to be true so wanted some advice.

Also I have heard the client is not maintained to the same standards as the Bitcoin client, thats certainly true.

ltc is a steal at these prices, good job for you getting in now. Just remember dont try to be a pro trader, buy for fundamentals and hold.

The "fork" issue that occurred to Bitcoin is in the Litecoin code, but it only affects people who are mining.  The users are fine (as I understand that issue).  Blocks mined with a certain setting are dis-regarded by the bulk of clients as they do not have that setting.  Any fork (if someone went out of their way to do it), would be short-lived and not effect transactions being processed on the main fork.  It appears there are plans to patch in future lease.  Read on other thread at https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=47417.msg1726129#msg1726129

Bug in the software? I hear that the Litecoin client is not maintained very well.

Actually, litecoin client is very well maintained by a team of very competent developers.  The fact that is has 0.6.3c in the version doesn't mean anything as this version already integrates most of bitcoin 0.7.x features.

The overall mentality of the development behind litecoin is "reliability first".  Litecoin tends to stay one major release behind bitcoin in order to ensure that nothing bad happens.  It is sort of like debian vs. ubuntu.  Ubuntu is always new and shiny, but developers of debian (from which ubuntu was derived) consider reliability and security to be highest priority.  As the result, debian doesn't always have latest features and generally lags behind in updates, but when updates do come, one is certain that these updates have been tested and have been running in other system variants reliably for a long period of time.

LOL

Coblee seems like an alright guy, but Greedi is far from anything I would call competent

Greedi is not a dev, LaSeek and Coblee however are.
