What is the normal amount of bitcoins transactions in queue? Currently it is close to 30000 transactions.
I have a transaction waiting for over 16 hours now. It has a fee, so am I guarenteed that it will be confirmed?

A lot of people say a fee confirms it, but to be honest I think it is dependent on the Miners whether they accept the fee or not.

16 hours is beyond ridiculous.  Bitcrap is living up to its name.   Tongue

I don't think there's an specific amount of transactions in queue to be considered normal but as of late, it's usually around the 30k mark. Usually the fee gives the assurance of receiving the confirmations later on but judging by your situation (16 hrs and counting), it seems you've used a fee lower than recommended and that's why it doesn't have a confirmation yet. Would you mind posting the transaction link?

Used the Internet archive
https://web.archive.org/web/*/https://blockchain.info/unconfirmed-transactions

Looks like it was normally between 4000 & 8000 Transactions in the queue for OCT & NOV, until this Spike happen

 Cool

FYI:
4000 transaction would take an average of 2 blocks to clear
8000 transaction would take an average of 4 blocks to clear
30,000 transactions will take an average of ~12 blocks or ~2 hours to clear , if no other transactions are added.
Since the top post complained of 16 hours delay, it looks like Bitcrap transactions is being stress tested and failing.

FYI2:
Just to show how outdated BTC is,
ZEIT can handle 20X the transactions as BTC in 10 minutes.
30 Second Block Speed .  Wink

There is no any fixed amount of bitcoin transaction that will be in queue, it keep on changing but over time total unconfirmed transaction is increasing due to lots of transaction with less than recommended fee.

I have a transaction waiting for over 16 hours now. It has a fee, so am I guarenteed that it will be confirmed?
You better post your transaction id so that we can give proper estimation of the time by when it will get confirmation. In the meanwhile check recommended fee here https://bitcoinfees.21.co/ based on your total transaction size.

I wonder how Andreas Antonopoulus is able to make his live only by bitcoin / dependant on trx and fee guessings?

I really wish all those politicians and fear mongers, unable to provide a community-unifying compromis (= consensus), should really try the same - put your lives on bitcoin trx - exclusively!

So with this we might see some real good consensus sofware coming out of devs work.

the so called "normal" number of unconfirmed transactions are usually about 2000 to 5000, you can see the history of it here: https://blockchain.info/charts/mempool-count?timespan=60days

and it usually goes up when there is a gap in the finding of blocks, or there is an increased number of activity that day like when people are trading more (more transactions)

The "normal" I used to see / like was 3-5 MB mempool.
But lately there's at least one day every 1-2 weeks when everything gets crowded.
Now the mempool is 32 MB.... See here: https://btc.com/stats/unconfirmed-tx

Your fee of 65 satoshi per byte isn't so bad.  But the reason why it's still unconfirmed is the unconfirmed input transaction from luckybit which is using only 27 satoshi per byte fee, you have to wait for that transaction to confirm before your transaction can get confirmed.

Trusted an exchange that climbed to the top 3 in just under 2 years with your money? you are fucking stupid.

i have seen shorter and longer queues, but 16 hours is a pain. some say to pay more fees, but this drives the fees to a point where bitcoin will not be attractive anymore. and if i just get a confirmation because i paid more, then there is someone who paid less. still 2 transactions must be processed. bitcoin will need a solution to the problem that the maximum amount of transactions per second is so low right now. ultimately this could decide over the faith of bitcoin.

We need faster blocks or larger blocks. Having this many unconfirmed transactions is not healthy. Forcing people to pay high fees will not make bitcoin more popular among the average joe. Dont drive away potential users!

One of my transactions has been in queue for about 8 hours + and has "very high" priority as per blockchain.info's tx viewer. Seems like there are a lot of unconfirmed transactions in the growing memory pool. Honestly, we need SegWit to be activated as soon as possible or possibly a hard fork if the miners are not willing to agree to SegWit. I don't know if there are any other possible soft fork viable methods to increase the blocksize limit so that more transactions can be handled quicker.

There is no fee quessing, if you use the correct tools to determine the recommended fee -->  here https://bitcoinfees.21.co/ ... I have used

it for a long time, and I have not had any problems with tx's not being confirmed. I just hate it when people come to this forum, complaining

about tx's not confirming, and then they do not post the tx ID for us to see where the problem is. Andreas will cover all his bases and would

not rely on people guessing what the fees must be to pay him, and if and when this happens... he would give them proper advice to rectify

the problem.  Wink

Unfortunately this was sent from an online wallet of mine this time so i had no control over the tight ass fee they added.

In this instance there is no use being pissed off at bitcoin, i have sent 3 other transactions after this all with an adjusted fee and all confirmed within about 20min.
Although fees are starting to get a little high at times like these.

Edit: mempool is over 50k transactions and counting, this could take a full day to clear.

Sorry, but with a community wide consensus there would be no such Problem as you just admitted there IS, artificially created and very obvious to any neutral judges.
