Would you invest in Ethereum longterm?

Seems like a good time to buy it price wise, but I don't like that there isn't a hard cap on the number of coins that will be produced. Are most of you just buying it short term and flipping it?

Like most of other traders i also play ETH or other high volume alts like xmr, fct on short term to hedge against bitcoin/altcoin price movement. Bitcoin is having several pumps this month and i think it will pump even more till the end of this year. So better to wait for ETH price to go even more down if you like to hold it for long term.

there's absolutely no way in hell i'd be buying eth and forgetting about it for the long term. these guys are making it up as they go along and there are no doubt giant holes waiting to be found. still, that never stopped anyone pumping it so if you can get in and out fast enough then it's fine.

Good advice. I can't imagine holding long term especially when there still is no hard cap or rule regarding the maximum amount of coins that will be produced.

ETH is a gud long term hodl. Don't concern yourself so much with it not having a cap as the true value will come from its utility usage. Definitely a gud time to bag a healthy chunk more, just as I did last night.

as for the price down for now, i think its a good idea to buy eth, but i will not make it as long term, i better to make it short and when i see i can make profit with eth, i will sell it. i think eth is not good for long term but if its just to buy and sell to make profit, then its fine and i am agree. i don't think its worth to hold eth too long.

Definitely not! Why would I invest in a platform that has a faster bloating blockchain than bitcoin? In a 5 years it will be very hard to maintain a node because of problems with storage and bandwidth. There is also the argument that since all the nodes have to check and update the state of each dapp then the power of the Ethereum "world computer" is actually the power of only one computer. There is also the problem of dapps not working as intended when there are millions of transactions are happening in the networks.

Ethereum is one of my favorites altcoin beside bitcoin, afte I bought when the price about $4, until now I never sold, I will sold if the price more than $50, and I sure this price will happen not more 5 years again.

Ethereum was never a buy and forget investment. Perhaps those that managed to get in early would have been lucky if they forgot about it for a good while only to cash out at the bubble but after that point the developments in it's space are so rapid that those distanced from the community are prone to missing out. Generally, after The DAO people trading Ethereum are in constant alert mode.

Eth/etc are both going down, and one would be crazy to hold either for the long term.   They were overhyped, and now they're overpriced.   Both of them and many others too.  Don't buy them would be my strong recommendation.

Well, I'm not sure that "buying and forgetting" is a good idea for anything....It's always wise to keep abreast of one's investment portfolio.  However, I do believe that Ethereum has some amazing potential in the decentralized application markets and it has a pretty progressive field of individuals contributing to the network....I can't say that I believe buying ether is a good investment opportunity long term, but I can say that the network is very promising from a utilitarian perspective.  If I were to invest in Ethereum....it wouldn't be with money but with time, code, and energy.  Good code will probably be worth something sweet on the Ethereum network someday....
