well it is not like we could have prevented that in any way so this is not an achievement. it is just a "we are still alive" thing. when bitcoin stared it was more or less programmed to happen around this time, so i do not see the big deal.

You can see in the graph where the production rate shifted due to the block-reward halving. The next million is going to be much slower If you click the link to the full graph you can see the last block reward halving.

thats right everytime we hit a block halving it gets slightly bend on its way its is not actully bad but a porve that it will take little much time for the rest of the blocks. all i care is that i can show these graphs to non bitcliners as a evidence of our existance :p

Well, its good I am here at this time since I was not present in the last million reached, I can therefore add it to a milestone achieved. That being said in as much as we are joyous about the potential this is bringing, we should also not be unmindful of the fact that we are moving closer to final gradually which is 21M according to reports and also the regulations knocking as this means more Bitcoin and more popularity.

In what process? Are you talking about general number of Bitcoins people lost by hardware malfunction, death of bitcoin holder or other unfortunate events like that? This question was asked many times and no no one thought of a way to estimate number of lost BTC even remotely.

Well, there's a thread about that, but it's a loose estimate, of course.

Very interesting date and milestone. Each day that is passing, we're driving toward the totality of bitcoins produced, and me getting rich because of the high price !

Good news, however, it doesn't really mean all that much. just means the supply has crossed the 16m threshold and we have roughly another 5m to go before we start relying completely on transaction fees for block rewards. It's a god milestone for sure, but in the grand scheme of things it is just another number that will eventually be replaced by 17m, then 18m, and so on.

I believe that most part of "freezed" wallets contains losted bitcoins, like Satoshi coins and others old users that don't believed in the sucess of the coin in the future and a lot of people that lost their wallets for some reason. However we can see the same problem with any fiat.

I personally think this is great. I wish more of the mining would be able to be done by the small miners, so that we could make some money, but all of the biiig guys had to step in and take over!!! Another day, Bitcoin is advancing and that is all that matters!

Yes total bitcoin in circulation is now 16,002,638 which is slightly more than 16 million is a great success for all of us because we had marched with bitcoin from 2009 to 2016 and we are nearly 21 million so Satoshi's dream could get turned into reality.
