So question, I realized that the smart contract that does the payout has a "lock" period but is there any fail-safe implemented to prevent a hack that would drain the winnings like what happened with the DAO incident?

Can't understand reason for pump either - returns have not materialized so it is still the same speculative risk...  I think I will sell out for now and live with it if it spikes even higher.

I don't think so, fluctuation of price not always depend on manipulation from whale and product be launched by developers team but it is depend on demand and supply,
i can understand if you use analysis fundamental for prediction price but not all of analysis fundamental will be work on every condition of markets​.

You cannot send the token VSL during the lock period,better wait and send once it gets over

Much better if VSL devs would open a bounty campaign for requesting vsl listed on bittrex exchange so that many people would join and do the task as you wish. And surely you can get many tweets and retweets after bounty hunters will spread some word about vsl and im pretty sure aswell that bittrex would see it since they had been tag on this tweet.
