Online wallet provider iPayYou is adding the option to pay with bitcoin when shopping on Amazon, promising a more “direct” and user-friendly process than similar offerings from competitors such as Gyft or Egifter.

What do you think about this?

I've never used this company before, but I like some of the features they are talking about, like sending BTC to Twitter accounts and being able to buy things on Amazon.

However, this article points out one of the problems we still have with Bitcoin.
"In the background iPayYou actually buys digital gift card balances via ACI, a Washington-based company, and transfers those fiat balances from its own Amazon account onto the user’s personal account at Amazon."

So we are not just relying on one third-party service, but two, to get these transactions accomplished.
If Bitcoin is ever going to see mass adoption, we need sites like Amazon to accept BTC directly, instead of relying on multiple parties, and multiple transaction fees-
"iPayYou charges 1% per transaction, minimum 1 USD, plus the network fee (around 0.13 USD at the time of writing). For example, a 16.95 USD purchase would deduct 18.08 USD from your iPayYou account (for a total fee of approx. 7%)."

i have also never heard of them and in general whenever there is a third party offering such services there is not much interest in using them and they make no difference specially since these third party services always charge extra fees (their service is obviously not free!) so in other words you pay a fee to buy bitcoin someday and then another day you decide to buy from amazon using bitcoin then you end up paying another fee to this service to be able to use it!

who in his right mind wants that?

Pretty good for those who want to shop almost directly in amazon using bitcoin. Well, those who prioritize convenience regardless of the fee. In my personal point of view, some might choose what iPayYou is offering because it is less hassle but most likely more people would choose buying gift cards in Gyft or eGifter using bitcoin to buy in amazon, yes it takes time but atleast they can save.

Less fees I assume if you just buy a gyft Amazon gift card and use that. Much easier to use than purse.io plus the account limits.

It's definitely a good way to buy from Amazon If you are in a hurry but If you can wait It's probably better to stop using purse.io , Gyft or any other services. Instead , you could buy gift cards from individuals on the forums , It would cost much much less then using any of the services mentioned above.

I just watched the tutorial video from the front page and apparently you need to input your Amazon log-in email and password into iPayYou website for this to work. Also they have their own fee and an additional network fee so it's not exactly cheap. The transacted amount of around $18 had a $1 iPayYou service fee. And I would not disclose my Amazon log-in credential to 3rd party websites if I had some gift card balance already loaded onto my account.

Just be careful of Paxful. When I was looking around for gift cards I stumbled upon them. Most of the cards are stolen if your buying a large balance.

iPayYou exclusively allows you to cancel any transaction you make to an email address or Twitter handle before your recipient logs in to claim it.

It sound more like paypal with the option to deposit via bitcoin, and also buying from them will charge fee instead of giving any discount. When we buy amazon items from purse.io using bitcoin we can easily get 10-15% discount but it is true that we have to wait for sometime. The one who is in really hurry may choose them but i don't think its bad to wait few hours or one-two day to purchase anything with bitcoin from purse.io.

I know and that's why I suggested to use the forums instead , It's easier to spot scammers/carders around here then on other P2P Platforms . It's a risk we should take for the moment anyway until Amazon starts accepting Bitcoin directly , If that ever happens.

How big is this platform actually, I've never heard of it, but Amazon isn't that widely used in my country, so that could explain it.
I've searched on Google, but couldn't find anything regarding the number of customers they have.

That's a nice service, but would like if it was for eBay. But then when you see the fees, it turns you off. Though this service will only work when few actually try it and it work. I mean users of bitcointalk.org actually use and rate it

If they can't offer lower fees, easy to use or keep anonymity, i think some bitcoiner still prefer to buy bitcoin gift cards instead.
I don't think they gonna lower their fees but may lower their minimum limit. I have also thought this service as real competitor for purse but found that purse is still better than this one. Also buying bitcoin gift cards with discount for purchasing smaller item is great rather than paying fees without any discount.

Well, this might be an option for bigger purchases, but when you buy the odd books like I do, and their discounted books goes for $1 to

$5 ...then this will not be a cheap option. You would be buying at premium prices with all the additional fees that you would have to

pay. Purse.io gives you the option to buy stuff at good discounts, and even less than the price listed on Amazon, so you pay less and

the savings makes up for the fees you have to pay.  Grin

This is the most extraordinary new today. I hardly find a way to consume my bitcoin both online and in the physical. If Ipayyou truly opens a service which partners with amazon, it will be a great opportunity for bitcoiners to use the bitcoin more often. This will also have the result that people will know more about Bitcoin. I have to try this. It is absolutely astonishing.
Happy black Friday. Happy Christmas yay
