seems like a very low rate of payout?  for 5 hour period (when it was frozen) I earned only .13 LTC on notroll Id get at least 1.

Same here, coins are going somewhere... But I'm not seeing them..  On one setup for this pool I run 800khs....down 1 coin since yesterday  X a few hundred users at that hash rate...that's pretty lucrative.

If it goes down again in the next few days, I'm packing it up...

I left this pool because the same thing happened a few days ago and I lost about 16hrs of hashing power due to "errors crediting all to one user" and VARDIFF issues  Roll Eyes

Seems not quite ready for prime time yet but I applaud the efforts. I'll keep an eye on it for the future.

Still a lot of disconnects Sad Hash rate cycling between 3000 and 1000 repeatedly.

Yup, I think the Admin should just switch to a 2.5% Fee and focus on having it stable instead of adding new features, it was working perfectly at the begining before adding the improvements. If you take into account the downtimes, a 2.5% Fee is equivalent to 0.6hours, so for a regular 24/7 miner a 12 hours downtime on this pool is equivalent to 20 days of 2.5% fees  Undecided

I like the KISS strategy. Simple is nearly always better. They will get it figured out.

I'm still having tons of problems.  Every 5 or so minutes it gets a kickout losing 20 or so shares and leaves for another pool then shortly after comes back to wemineltc.  I'm going to have to leave long term until stability comes to this server.  I love ya'll but I've lost almost one day of earnings from kickouts, server downs, non credits etc..

What does increasing the fee have to do with stability and features?

Both are happening already are they not?

If the software needs someone to continously press a button, and baby sit it 24/7 without blinking what good is that?

I am giving up on this pool.... too many unstable connections.
My earnings in the past 2 days dropped to about 30% to what it should be.

Hate to say that I'm seeing a lot of problems too:

My donation rate is set to 1%, but in the past few days the effective  "donation" rate has been more like 70%....pool difficulty, down time?.....not entirely convinced about that.   How many hours was it down in the past 72...7 or 8 hours?   Maybe 10-12 percent down time....70 percent variance from any other pool in payout.  Hmm...

4/20/13 1:30PM GMT - VARDIFF Live!
We are happy to announce that VARDIFF has been fixed and is now live on both servers. USA server is also now solid. VARDIFF is 128 to 512 on the eu server and is 30-1000 on the USA server. We are still Beta testing the wide difficulty on the USA server so please don't move your miners there yet unless you have low power. Please keep high power miners on the EU server (if they are already on the USA server that is fine). This allows us to monitor things easier. We have taken steps to get things more stable. We have ordered as Dual Xeon with a total of 24 logical cores, 64GB ECC RAM, 10Gbit Ethernet, Hardware Raid 0 SSD's for our backend server and we will be putting this online soon. We will give you plenty of warning when we will be switching to the new monster server. Incase you are wondering, you are paid based on the difficulty of your shares. Every share is weighted for it's difficulty when it comes to payouts. You should NOT notice a change in your payouts with VARDIFF, it's just more optimized work loads for your particular hardware. To get the most out of VARDIFF we recommend using 1 worker per machine, we highly recommend NOT using more than 1 machine for the same worker. Create 1 Worker Per Mining Machine(client). If you have questions at all stop in our irc chat using the button on the top menu bar. We have a great group of miners in the irc channel, a bot that has some cool features like !stats, !calc (for payout calcs) and it alerts on blocks. Please be courteous to your fellow miners. Any issues with VARDIFF let us know.

on a side note, we apologize for downtimes. NO ONE LIKES DOWNTIMES, not you, not us. We could be just-another-ltc-pool, or we can try to make a difference and stand Smiley We aim for the second one!

Please let us know if there are any issues!

happy mining and see you in our very very active chat!

Stability at last.

I've seen and added to the pile of griefing about this pool. Now on a more positive note, I hope that this post
adds to a better experience for some of you. I like the fee setup and mined along for the very first block on this pool.
'd like to see it stay this way.

Here's my story on how I zero'd-in on the most stable setup yet that handles this pool's issues and growing pains rather well.
Having said that, the following setup could be used anywhere else to minimize stales and
rejected shares as well. I have a few miners pointing at it with some
on windows and some on linux boxes.

I avoid the US server altogether. cgminer connected to it directly will behave badly.
I've experienced 'mysql has gone away errors', rejected and stale shares in various quantities etc.

I don't point the proxy at it as well.
All workers connect via the proxy to the eu.wemineltc.com server. This might change
when the US server stops causing me to lose LTC

Proxy:
The most important part to keep the workers running and reconnected properly is to use
an intermediary proxy. Note, I do not use the proxy provided on wemineltc.com website.
I'm running this proxy on a linux box. This proxy connects to the eu.weminltc.com server.
Information on running and deploying the proxy:

  On Windows:
    download: https://mining.bitcoin.cz/media/download/mining_proxy.exe
    run: mining_proxy.exe -pa scrypt -o eu.wemineltc.com -p 3333

  On Linux:
    download: https://github.com/slush0/stratum-mining-proxy/tarball/master
    unpack: tar xf slush0-stratum-mining_proxy*.tar.gz
to make sure, install Python required libraries:
      sudo apt-get install python-dev
    inside the unpacked directory:
      sudo python setup.py install
    run: python ./mining_proxy.py -pa scrypt -o eu.wemineltc.com -p 3333

additionally on linux, install 'screen' so that you can run the proxy in the background
disconnect and reconnect to your terminal session.

    to install screen:
      sudo apt-get install screen
    start a screen session:
      screen
press enter when a notice message is shown
then run the proxy as above
to disconnect from the screen session, press ctrl+a then d

there's a lot of resources and manpages related to screen usage such as reconnecting, listing etc.

Steps below presume that the proxy is running.

Minerd/cpuminer:
There's already a great post on litecoinpool.org website on how to run it on linux/windows and osx: https://www.litecoinpool.org/help

For example, if the proxy is running on IP 5.5.5.5, i would connect to it as such:
    ./minerd --algo scrypt -s6 --threads 4 --url http://5.5.5.5:8332 --userpass username.workername:workerpassword
--threads parameter is equal to number of CPU cores

Cgminer:
  Using cgminer scrypt:

  Windows:
    download: http://ck.kolivas.org/apps/cgminer/cgminer-2.11.4-windows.zip
    run example:
      cgminer.exe -o http://5.5.5.5:8332 -u username.workername -p workerpassword -I 13 --scrypt

look for cgminer optimal settings elsewhere, but it is quite possible for my 7950 cards to
      generate 550 - 600 kHs and 0.005 rejected rate.

  Linux:

There's already a great step-by-step article here on Github and it's too long for this tutorial:
      https://github.com/ckolivas/cgminer

Parting words,

If push comes to shove and the pool goes down repeatedly, I will simply point the proxy somewhere else.
Until that point, I'll stick around as long as LTC/kWh is highest here.

cheers,
