I've found a very interesting website where it's possible to place a bet on different statements

For instance: Before the end of 2013 Silkroad will accept litecoins

Check out this website it's a quite funny way of spending or even earning some extra coins.

for me this website doesn't exist anymore since they declared that BFL has "shipped"

Looks like Intrade. It's a shame that site went down; I suppose a bitcoin version could be a viable alternative, if done well.
