It's quite quite how the media invent new terms, to make it seem sensational!

When MtGox suffered a ddos-attack recently, many media sources reported it as a 'hacking attack' that made the price plummet 20%.

Try to say that out loud in a very serious news-anchor type of voice: 'HAAACKING ATTTTTACKKKK!'
