BitCoin//BTC ByteCoin//BTE LiteCoin//LTE

What are the measurable quantifiable differences between these coins. With all these alt crypto-currencies i think we need a one stop shop thread to educate people (including myself) on this.

Answer me these for BTC/LTC/BTE if you can kthx!

Max ever in Circulation?
Time between Blocks?
Fees?
Rate of Difficultly increase?
Current Chain Size?

OK GO!

BitCoin - BTC http://bitcoin.org/en/download (all os/arch)

Max ever in Circulation? 21,000,000
Time between Blocks? 600s (10m)
Fees? 0.0005 Minimum before 0.01 and under 10k tx
Rate of Difficultly increase? Every 2016 blocks
Current Chain Size 7.10GB

LiteCoin - LTC https://github.com/downloads/litecoin-project/litecoin/litecoin-0.6.3c-win32-setup.exe

Max ever in Circulation? 82,000,000
Time between Blocks? 150s (2.5m)
Fees?
Rate of Difficultly increase? Every 2016 blocks
Current Chain Size 1.22GB
Other notable differences from BTC: Uses much slower 'proof of work' algorithm, preventing 'overmining'

ByteCoin - BTE https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=168538.0 (all os/arch)

Max ever in Circulation? 81,000,000
Time between Blocks? 600s (10m)
Fees?
Rate of Difficultly increase? Every 2016 blocks
Current Chain Size 17MB
Other notable differences from BTC:

Great idea, some clarity and clear comparisons required for sure.

I'd like to see people add answers for the other alt coins to, PPC TRC ...etc I've no idea how they work / differ yet

Litecoin is LTC not LTE...rate of difficulty increase is 4 times faster than BTC.

BTE is exactly the same at BTC, the only difference is the name. Which makes the current mindless circlejerk around it even more mindless.

There have been a few threads about the differences between the existing coins. I'd strongly recommend you search around for them. Perhaps starting with the topmost stickied thread on this subforum...

Been typing BTE a lot lately, just rolled off the keyboard that way. Corrected topic title thanks.

And I have been looking around, I've found most of the info myself...

You can also add TRC/PPC/NVC to the comparsion.
NVC is the most attractive (in the my opinion), it is Scrypt based PoW+PoS hybrid.

NO PSAKING!

Another big difference is, say i am talking to my boss about bitcoin and after we finish the conversation he goes and googles bitcoin and finds silkroad etc etc..

same scenario but this time we are talking about bytecoin, he googles, he comes back clean.

bytecoin (bitcoin, without the taint)

As much as I love bytecoin, if BTE gets even more popular, chances are a "silk road" will come out for it. Much like litecoin.

I think they are in the process of building the home page - http://www.bytecoin.in/

Also, I thought this was a 1:1 copy of the BTC code so how did you come up with the 81 Million cap? Shouldn't it be 21 Million?
