Hi,
I've seen that a lot of people in the BTC world are offering pre paid debit cards that let you turn BTC into real world currencies (some of these are even virtual debit cards). This has left me with a question.
If it's possible to issue/create prepaid debit cards (physical/virtual) that are reloadable in BTC and can be turned into real money, then why not create a contactless payment app which models Orange Quick Tap (UK)
http://www.orange.co.uk/quicktapor Google's wallet feature, that I could then use to pay for goods/services with my phone?
I'll sum it up for you:
1.I want to make the use of cashless payments everywhere I go in UK and abroad.
2.I have a phone capable of NFC payments (Galaxy S3 LTE)
3.I don't want to carry a wallet full of paper recipts, bank notes, coins or anything else ever again (as it just falls out anyway too often for me).
4.The BTC world certainly has a lot to offer someone like me but BTC must continue to be useful in more real world applications as I can see this taking off.
5.I want to avoid the current mess in UK where most NFC wallet apps are unavailable (Google wallet) or have conflicting standards/arbitrary restrictions over which SIM cards (Quick Tap) and phones I can use.The O2 wallet has no NFC feature and no ETA on when it'll arrive.
6.I want to turn my BTC into GBP by pre loading a virtual debit card which can then be used via the NFC app to pay in places that have PayPass/PayWave readers in the UK.
7.The NFC app must be easy to use, reload and pay with.
8.Security can be addressed like this (to avoid skimming):
a.Turn off screen=NFC chip off (You don't need NFC on when it's in your pocket)
b.Screen on=NFC chip on (only useful when you actually pay)
9.The app must let you keep records of transactions (in place of a paper recipt) you make if you want (otherwise turn it off).
I know this may seem hard but I really think that BTC has a promising future and must not be held back by lack of real world applications in all form factors.Of course I can't program anything (nor should I be expected to) but I can certainly make the proposal/idea available to people who are willing to develop it (no trolls though).
Thanks for taking the time to read this
