FundRequest : A Decentralised Platform for rewarding open source contributions using Smart Contracts
Open-source software is often developed by many programmers who volunteer their skills. We want to offer an integrated decentralised platform where developers can get compensated for their work and where people can incentivise developers to address bugs, or contribute to a particular feature, via crowdfunding on the Ethereum blockchain. The value FundRequest offers to
Open Source projectsIs the increase in incentive to develop a new feature or to fix a bug. Which in turn adds more value and stability to the project. Additionally by comparing the amount of backers and the total funded amount, one could get an insight on customer/user priorities related to open tickets.
Developers and ContributorsIs rewarding the time and effort they invest in supporting open source projects. For contributors who don’t care about the reward, FundRequest offers the ability to donate the rewards to the contributor’s favourite charity.
BusinessesIs a level of support which is positioned between either having no support or paying for Enterprise support. Companies can pick which issues they wants to see resolved and decides how much budget they wants to allocate. They only pay for bugs that impact their business.
UsersIs more stable and feature rich open source software. Additionally they can fund a issue that impacts them, or contribute to raising funds for implement a new feature.
Why we have a crowdsaleThere are three reasons why we are having a crowdsale
Setup large marketing campaignFor the project to be successful we need to attract a critical mass of users and just building the platform will not be enough to attract the masses. Especially since cryptocurrency is involved. Therefore the largest part of the crowdsale funds will be allocated to launch a one year marketing campaign targeting software developers and IT companies. (See the Whitepaper)
Hire of a UI DesignerThe key to any successful platform is have a user-friendly and intuitive interface. This is one part where FundRequest wants to make the difference with its competitors. Today we are missing a key profile, which is a UI designer. By using a portion of the crowdsale budget we intent to attract the right person with the right set of skills for this position.
Enable full time commitmentAt the moment we work on the project in our spare time, since we all have other full time jobs. Sadly enough, we still need money to pay the bills and
put food on the table, so to be able to work full time we need a source of income for the duration of the project. This is currently estimated (based on the first milestone) around 12 to 15 months.
What we offer our backersIn return for your support you will receive Ethereum based tokens, FND’s (FundRequest Tokens). Only 2,000,000 (two million) exist, no additional FND tokens will ever be created. Every quarter, from the moment the platform is live, 9% of all the funds that were raised to solve issues, answer questions or implement new features by our platform, will be distributed among FND token holders.
Simply put
if you own all 2,000,000 FND tokens you will receive 100% of 9% of all the funds that were raised.
if you own 2,000 FND tokens you will receive 10% of 9% of all the funds that were raised.
