Hello,

Please I have a very important assignment for school relevant to Bitcoin. I need to create a powerpoint slideshow presentation and the question topic for my presentation is:

What is Bitcoin and why are banks and law enforcement authorities concerned?

Can anyone here please explain to me to me what Bitcoin is in plain and simple English? Or if possible, point me to any good sources such as links to websites that would explain what Bitcoin is in plain and simple English?

And as to why are banks and law enforcement authorities concerned about Bitcoin?

If there is a good source that is in plain and simple English to explain this I'd really appreciate it.

Any help or input is much needed and appreciated. If anyone here has done a presentation about Bitcoin for class or school before, can you please provide me with any useful and helpful sources or advice? And if anyone has a good Bitcoin themed powerpoint presentation template they are willing share, I'd also appreciate it.

Thank you everyone.

I am able to piece to together some of it from google, I'm not asking anyone here to do the assignment for me or send me anything, except if they have done a presentation for BitCoin before and if they have a template they are willing share.

All I'm asking for is just answers. I can't seem to find anything that would explain in plain simple English in regards to the second part of the topic question as to why are banks and law enforcement authorities concerned about Bitcoin?

The first part seems to be more easier to find, and I think I have that now since I found some powerpoint slides available for download. It's the second part I am confused and hope someone that is familiar with Bitcoin could help me answer why?

I figured if somebody here are gurus and experts then they might already know these answers and can give me some pointers. All I need is a couple of points as to why banks and law enforcement would be concerned about Bitcoin that I could add as bullets in the slide and then that's it.

What makes you think governments and law enforcement are concerned?

Of course they are interested because it's something new, but the United States Marshals auctioned off 100,000~ BTC and FinCEN said using Bitcoin to buy products and services is perfectly legal.

Thanks I really appreciate it. The topic question is like that I didn't make it up. I was having problems finding clear and specific answers that I can add as bullet points in a slide presentation for why the banks and law enforcement authorities would be concerned, although I did come across the information about how Bitcoin was involved with that website called Silk Road where they sold all kinds of illegal and prohibited products like drugs. I still haven't found anything that is specific and clear as to why banks would be concerned about Bitcoin, just wanted to see if anyone already know and can give me a couple of clear reasons and explanations and if possible provide a clear and good source like what you just did here.

But what you had provide me here had already helped me greatly and I really appreciate it. Thanks.

What makes you think governments and law enforcement are concerned?

Of course they are interested because it's something new, but the United States Marshals auctioned off 100,000~ BTC and FinCEN said using Bitcoin to buy products and services is perfectly legal.

I didn't write the question or make it up. It was like that in the textbook and I was randomly assigned it.

As of now, wheelz1200 already provide me with a really good source that clearly explains the first part of the question answering "what Bitcoin is" in plain simple english. I probably don't need to put too much technical details to explain everything thoroughly as I'm not trying to really convince anyone to actually invest in Bitcoin. Just have to get to the point on what it is with a few bullet points on one or two slides, clarifying who, what, when, where, why and how, and reducing confusion.

The only thing I can remotely find as answers to the second part of the question is because of Bitcoin being used before in transactions for illegal and prohibited items on a website like Silk Road.

So I believe that means Bitcoin makes it easier for criminals to engage in business and make transactions over the internet, such as buying drugs or similar illegal items, so I think that would be the reasons as to why they would be concerned about how Bitcoin can be used illegally or abused.

Or is there more I could really add to it?

I'm still not able to figure out the clearly what the reasons are as to why banks would be concerned with BitCoin?

Is it because banks are unwilling to accept Bitcoin because for similar reasons as to how they can be abused for the selling and buying of illegal items and services?

Banks are concerned because with Bitcoin you can bypass them. You can store your money at home and it could be much safer than storing it in banks.

They will need to adapt their model business.

Thanks, it's just answers like this one you've provided me is all that I'm looking for. I'm not looking for anything overly technical with jargon, just in plain simple easy to understand English.

Clear, concise and to the point. I'm not expecting anyone to write me long paragraphs and essays, and I know non one would. I'm only looking for brief and clear explanations like yours for example.

Are there any other particular reasons or points that you think I should make that would explain how or why banks or law enforcement authorities would be concerned about Bitcoin?

As of now it seems like all I have to add to the slide are:

  • Bitcoin is hard to or impossible to regulate
  • No one owns or controls the system that Bitcoin uses
  • Bitcoin's anonymity makes it easier for criminals to make business transactions for their illegal activities <-May have to re-word and re-adjust this, since I find it to be very wordy.
  • Maybe add something about Bitcoin would disrupt the value of current real world currency here?
  • Something else here that I haven't figured out what to add, maybe I don't need to add anything here?

Please correct me if If I have any of this wrong. That's all I have on everything I've looked at and read from here and the links provided

I know that I should keep it no more than 6 bullet points, because I just want to use the most important points just for clarity. This is not an essay, research paper or any kind of big project assignment, it's just to the point is what I was asking for.

It's not a big project like a research paper or anything, I'm only looking for just a few clear and concise points and answers and if anyone here know and is willing to answer. An example is something like what Anillos2 had said.

Just to the point in plain English, look at the list above, that is an example of what I was looking for, now if you can verify if the statements I added to the list is correct or not?

Or if there really is any other points that I could add.

Again, it's just short and concise to the point type of answers I was looking for since I know that I  should  avoid using too many bullet points and text on a slide since it would be too wordy.

Everything else on what Bitcoin is already available since wheelz1200 already provided me with a link and a video that clearly explains it in plain simple English. Again, thank you wheelz1200, I really appreciate it.
