Per the image below, why wouldn't I have had shares happening in the red sections, when I was even able to submit 2 during a round time that was significantly shorter in green?

It is a common myth that Bitcoin is ruled by a majority of miners. This is not true. Bitcoin miners "vote" on the ordering of transactions, but that's all they do. They can't vote to change the network rules.

Use a PPS pool instead of a scam pool  Wink

I recommend 50BTC or BitMinter

It's called luck, or variance.

You've just been lucky to find 2shares in a row within a few seconds in one round
and unlucky to find no shares at all within 30minutes in another round.

The rule of averages tells me that I get a share more or less every 10 seconds... I can understand that not happening during the 3 minute round, but in 27 minutes I should have generated some 203 shares on average.. the odds don't stack up. Surely something else must be going on? I see rounds like this daily.

Well, maybe you should just try another pool then and see how that works out, your current pool-operator might be scamming you (I'm not saying he is).

Just checked it and pool.50BTC.com is mining just fine.

Bitparking works just fine, has a lower fee than 50BTC, plus merged-mining name- and devcoins.

With what I come up with on bitparking's PPS rate, I would have to mine for almost 33 hours (on average) to get what I've been averaging with 19 hours mining on slush's pool...

So back on topic:

Is there no way to see if there was a networking issue or something else preventing me from submitting shares for almost half an hour, or should I just chalk it up to being extremely unlucky for a few rounds per day?
