how do we insert an image into a post?

We're launching a new currency next week on this forum and we were just experimenting with our announcement post only to find that inserting images doesn't work for us. When we hit Preview it just shows the url of the image as a link - but doesn't show the picture. What are we doing wrong?

Newbies cannot post images. You need a higher ranked acct

Images posted by newbies show up as links till they rank up to jr. members.
