There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, but full nodes are more resource-heavy, and they must do a lengthy initial syncing process. As a result, lightweight clients with somewhat less security are commonly used.

Yeah... I just mentioned something about that in your mt.gox thread. No way I was going for it. And they're taking quite a risk themselves as most were accepting paypal...

Ebay doesn't predict MtGox price in the same way difficulty doesn't predict price.

It doesn't directly affect it, but there is a strong correlation.

Difficulty moves hand in hand with price more than 90% of the time if you remove outliers.

Over 80% with the outliers included.

I'm sure it's not far off.

I really doubt those ebay auctions end up being successful deals. I think virtual goods are not allowed to be sold over there, and if the seller doesn't have proof of shipment and delivery then he loses any "item not received" case he's filed. That's a chargeback, he loses the bitcoins and the money he was paid. This is why bids get higher than expected, scammers just want to win those auctions to get those bitcoins in their filthy pockets.

There's a 10% fee for selling on Ebay and considering the risk of Paypal, $230 is pretty fair.
