I had Windows 7 on my pc and had Electrum installed on a removable disk, together with my wallets.

I've just upgraded to Windows 10.

I connected my removable disk in order to check on my bitcoins. I double clicked the electrum executable there and it reacted like it was the first time it run, as expected. I chose to create a new wallet (and open the other ones later), i got my seed etc and then it just disappeared and now it won't start.

So, I downloaded it again, from electrum.org, but when I try to install it, again, it just disappears.

Very frustrating altogether.  Embarrassed

I'd like my bitcoins back.

I'd appreciate any help, here.

Thanks Smiley

Smiley

I was able to reopen my wallet files without a problem (and no seed)

The wallet files are normally stored in that location so you should be careful that you don't remove any wallets that you need access to during this process. Unless you are referring to only deleting the configuration file and not the whole directory.

Now I want to proceed with a payment but it asks for a password that I don't remember, anymore. What happens in that case?

If you don't have the seed that was given to you when you first created the wallet, it becomes near impossible to get it unlocked. Do you have any idea of what the password may be?

If you have your seed then just go "file -> New/restore"

Select "Standard Wallet" and "I already have a seed".. follow the process and put in your seed and (optional but recommended) add in a password and encrypt the wallet file. After it is all successfully resynced, you should be able to send using the new password you just reset.

Having your 12 word seed safe is the ultimate recovery and "password reset" option! Wink
