You can clearly see tag: "sponsored article" which is basically paid advertisement in the form of a news.
Cointelegraph probably doesn't research anything and as long as you paid them they will publish anything, even news about mining farms on the moon.

They don't give a shit at all, they don't even review either if these sites are legit or scammers as long as they get paid they will advertise that site. That's the power of money nowadays  Roll Eyes

As the tag "sponsored article" they just paid for published this without research first the contents.
But I think there are people who don't know about this case, also not research first a contents too. They got scammed and a scammer company earn more Roll Eyes

I think media, especially online media nowadays have an important role. They have a power to influence people. So we need to be a smart reader.

this is not new at all. they have been doing this forever.
cointelegraph and so many other crappy news sites are doing the same thing, they publish whatever pays them the most no matter if it is scam, harmful, FUD, or even support of an altcoin someone wanted to pump. as long as they get paid or they feel like it is a good click bait to generate more traffic for them, they will publish it.

Weak hands have been complaining about missing out ever since bitcoin was $1 and never buy the dip.
Whales are those who keep buying the dip.

It's not like they are advertising them in purpose but they simply advertise whoever pays the most without giving a damn about the readers of their blog.

I'm going to list a few sites that cointelegraph advertised and turned into a full scam :

- HashOcean
- Biteminer
- Hashing24 (not yet but there is a scam accusation at the moment)
- BitPlutos (more then one scam accusation against them)
- Coince
- SearchTrade

and there is a lot more. I guess It's worth reading this article made by a former writer : https://medium.com/@iandemartino/more-on-cointelegraph-by-a-former-writer-b4e1058b37ca#.bcaxjgfm0

Not exactly. The don't do regression searches over the content that's being advertised but that doesn't mean they promote obvious scams.Like why you would not see them promoting and bitcoin HYIPS ? I'm sure the HYIP creators can certainly pay good enough for promotion, rather an "investment".

Those didn't turn into a scam after they day there advertised.Neither anyone had an idea of their intentions. It was only after a few months people started saying  "what sorcery is this" ?

Neither anyone had an idea of their intentions.
Well, there's been a pretty critic discussion about Coince very soon (reference: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1365561.0),
so people did have an idea about what was going to happen.

Cointelegraph = Scam advertisement site(Is the publication free for everyone?)

Look this:

They advise that the article is sponsored, that is, It is the responsibility of the person who paid the article to be published and of yours as a reader to do research before believing the things that are in the sponsored article.

I am against scammer and thieves, but no one can accuse a news site that post sponsored articles.

Then why we don't see Coindesk or other known Bitcoin news sites doing the same thing ? An obvious scam , is easy to spot (I'm not saying that those who use the services have no responsibility but It's CT fault). In fact , writers should have the ability to spot scams more then we do because they are used to write about those services etc... but It doesn't look like It's the case for CT.

Neither anyone had an idea of their intentions.

Coindesk is doing the same thing by promoting altcoins they are most likely invested into. Last month I checked Coindesk maybe 3 times and every time the main page was screaming that Zcash is a good investment. A sponsored article is a sponsored article, nothing more, period.

Now, what are they? Journalists or coin pushers? What is the difference between promoting a business you have a stake in and posting sponsored articles? Not here to defend Cointelegraph, but it's a common practice.

if you want real news go to a real site. none of the 'coin' news sites are any more legit than most of the services and coins they cover. it's just as shitty as it's ever been.

Yes, But remember if cointelegraph hadn't done it in the past. And I guess, it will sacrifice the site just for earning some bucks. Because there is some people felt if they still a reliable site right now.

this is not new at all. they have been doing this forever.
cointelegraph and so many other crappy news sites are doing the same thing, they publish whatever pays them the most no matter if it is scam, harmful, FUD, or even support of an altcoin someone wanted to pump. as long as they get paid or they feel like it is a good click bait to generate more traffic for them, they will publish it.
I find a lot in the ANN altcoin. funny site  Roll Eyes

They run they site and they need money dude. You can not criticize them for that. I have also seen blockchain.info advertise some cloud mining sites too. When you run a site which has a large number of audiences, you must put some banners to earn some extra money.
