I was active in this community back in 2014 and back then 'anonymity' features were the hottest thing in town.

What are the hottest features or what features differentiate a good altcoin from a shitcoin right now?

i think i say this from the bottom of the hearts of majority of people around here that we are looking for profit in altcoins and nothing else.

not only altcoins stopped showing any improvement, features and innovation for some time but also we have stopped looking for them too. right now we are only interested in which altcoin is having the best pump so that we can join in and make a $$$tload of money.

When I look for a good altcoin I search primarily for these things: fast transactions (or at least not too slow), presence on a good number of exchange sites, anonimity or some other particular features such as supporting the ecosystem or donating to charity or a particular way to get the altcoin besides Proof of Work and Proof of Stake.

What's needed in the altcoin scene is innovation.
Anonymous coins are still being created. Making a coin have fast transaction or getting listed on exchanges will work for a few pumps.
But most of the coins are clones of clones. Bring something new and let people decide if the new things you thought of are indeed useful.

And get some good marketing team. Else the new coin will be lost in the sea of altcoins, whether the coin was good or not.

i want to see a lot of different things in altcoins but almost all of them are not possible.
- i want faster transactions with immediate confirmation; but that comes at the cost of increased number of orphaned blocks, less security, and a massive blockchain
- i want cheaper transactions preferably free but that means miners have to get paid more reward and that means more dump and price going down.
- i want to be able to mine myself so that mining don't turn into a centralized act that only mining farms can do, but i don't even know that is even possible with the way difficulty works.
- and more things that are smaller but the above was the most important.

You got it man lots of threads asking the same thing which no one would really answer because suggestions might be used on creating a new coin using the new features that are being shared by members. Creating scam coin again and the thoughts are there regarding on the new feature. Yeah its his job to research on that

Many altcoins now promising great features then offer us ICO to materialize those features which in real are just promises or something that they cannot really  keep up,I've seen one coin which offer fantastic features like anonymity that in reality cannot be implemented and just gone away taking people money ..

this question has been asked so many times before and each time people answer and nothing ever changes with the end result i think it is time to change the question and start asking more important questions like "why did almost all the altcoins have failed?" or "why do developers only think about making money? and how can it stop"

I think its the " transaction speed". If they can innovate something that can confirmed with a speed of light  then its a game changer.If Almost negligible waiting time then many entrepreneurs / merchant and buyers will love it. Though its far from reality since it has also many factors that affect speed like the hardware / network limitations but maybe some time in the future.

I think anonymous/private/untraceable transactions is still the mainstay among all the desired features in a coin. That's pretty much obvious.

Most if not all coins (I don't know since I don't follow all of them) are focused on a lump-sum mining reward system; a winner-take-all reward model. How about incorporating a mining-pool-like reward structure within the protocol? In other words, why not distribute the mining reward to all participating miners/workers according to shares similar to what current mining pools are already doing? Perhaps, a little extra reward to the miner/worker that solves a block could also be included as additional motivation for "individuals" to dedicate more hashing power to the network. I'm not sure if this is even technically achievable as I am not a full-fledged geek but if it is, it should prevent centralization by dominant mining pools. This should encourage "individual" (solo) mining since there will be a guaranteed reward already regardless of hashing power instead of waiting forever to win the "lottery", thereby taking a mining pool out of the equation. This could also end the mining pool business model and therefore maintain decentralization.

Lol The Shadow cash had been made in 2014, and it already created for a long time ago, another anonymous coin was copying his idea.

They are clone it becomes plagued for crypto, that is fucking coin right now. But investor was smarter they are not taking the clone coin which means a lot of them was failing.
