Bitcoin mining is now a specialized and very risky industry, just like gold mining. Amateur miners are unlikely to make much money, and may even lose money. Bitcoin is much more than just mining, though!

That virus would be a great BTC printer in the era of CPU mining.

As for today, it needs a lot of luck to be installed on a machine including capable GPU, installing some software (f.e. OpenCL, AMD APP SDK) and make you not notice your GPU is under constant load.

But considering a large number of infected computers, it could still make the cracker smile Smiley .
