Retailers looking to accept bitcoin face many challenges. While Point of Sale and Payment Service providers have become industry titans through simplifying the process, there are still risks that need to be considered.

We are going to need a solid way to mitigate the confirmation time requirement for this to take off.  Maybe a third party that can hold coins (e.g. like localbitcoins) and when a member authorizes coin release its instant.  Anytime you hand a third party coins, there is always a risk.  Carrying a sponsored btc credit card, or maybe a hardware wallet that would connect to a POS terminal, etc....  Unless the confirmation time is removed the process would be too slow for general public use, in my opinion.
