I'm new to mining, and I want to run my HD 6870 about 15hrs a day when I'm at school and overnight. My question is, if I mine this many hours on it everyday for months how much will the life of the GPU decrease? I will be running it at ~70% fan speed and @ ~62C temperatures. Will the life of the GPU decrease significantly vs. if I did not mine this much on it? Does it even matter that much? Thanks!

62C is pretty low, likely you won't experience a noticable decrease in lifetime. I've heard constant heat can cause the memory to fail but I've run my 7970 for several months non stop at 60-65c with no decrease in performance.

I remember halving life time per about 10°C (or K if you want) but I never came across a dead GPU by normal usage (BOINC and mining included, excluding reckless overclocking).

NB: You should watch your fans though - if they start to make funny noises, it's time to slow down and exchange (but even in the case of GPU overheating a PC usually just shuts down).
