Hi everybody!

newest of all newbies here,
with a situation,
until last week i:

1. kept my BTC in my Bitcoin-QT wallet

2. had encrypted that wallet

3. made a back-up, and renamed the file.

Than i my mac crashed fully. (lion to mountain lion update fail).
Totally corrupt filevault-encrypted HDD, no major backups, so I reinstalled OSX.

Now all I have is backup file of the encrypted wallet.dat. (password i have)
Is this enough to recover my BTC??

If anybody could help me with a diagnosis,
this patient would be happy (or not..... Shocked Shocked Shocked)

Thanks!

Yes, if you have your wallet, everything should be okay.

What do you mean that you "downloaded a new one"? The client downloads only the blockchain from the network. The blockchain is a public transaction ledger. Your wallet is not downloaded by the client. Your client creates a new wallet file when it first starts up, but if you haven't used that new wallet, you can close the client, remove the new wallet file, and replace it with your backed-up wallet file.
