@OP

It sounds like you don't know how bitcoin works, I would suggest reading more about it before diving in.  Confirmations happen when blocks are found and the transactions are included in the blocks.

You've got me pegged 'tysat' would you be so kind as to point me to a link where I can educate myself ?

I believe https://www.weusecoins.com/en/ is a good resource, never checked it out myself.

Confirmation takes 6 block generation cycles, which should take an average of 10 minutes each, so 60 minutes average total.

@tysat

Yep, I've got that site bookmarked & it's a good & informative site, BUT they don't seem to be oriented toward the education of 'newbs'.

Can one of your peers recommend a link ?

Check bitcoin wiki, plenty of useful information there. Also, guy with nick DannyHamilton on this forum provides a lot of info, check his posts.

@jfhoff

It's been sitting there for over 2 hours now.

Two questions:

What wallet/client did you use to create the transaction?

What is the transactionID?

I think, this topic should be labeled as 'Solved'.

Like yellowbelly pig said, it apparently self-confirmed yesterday.

WHERE IS THE SOLVED BUTTON ?

@DannyHamilton

The wallet/client used was the one I d'loaded from here https://www.weusecoins.com/en/getting-started.

I cannot find a 'transactionID'.

WHERE IS THE SOLVED BUTTON ?

At the bottom is a link labeled "lock topic".  That will prevent anyone else from posting here.

Before you do that, you can modify the "Subject:" at the top and add the text [SOLVED] to the current description.
