Ive read that some have used bots for trading. It doesn't seem to be illegal but it isn't talked about. I've been able to find some posts on google but they are from the "honey moon" years of btc. Can a bot be used today? How much to buy one? A well made bot would be worth more than any BFL rig.

Yes, they do exist, but they aren't as easy to get started as they used to be.  Coin prices used to fluctuate more (as in the % up-down-up was a little more consistent, and predictable),  giving you better opportunities to automate the behavior.  If you looking to make your own bot, and have some programming experience, look into a webkit library for your choice of language.  For instance, I'm a c kinda guy, and more than a little lazy, so I would just use the built-in webkit layer of the Qt suite.  A little Qt-dom and a few choice parameters to define your buy-sell percenst, gains, and fee amount to maximize profit, and BAM you have a working bot.

Good luck making a profitable bot without have a few grand to put into it first though, with fee's the way they are, it probably won't last long otherwise.

P.S. - Don't buy a bot from someone unless you really trust them, it's probably a scam.

I was going to say I need a bot to get to 250btc! But in reality if we stuck to btc a couple years ago we'd all have 250min. Thanks gweedo for the heads up, at least I know where to go for the real deal.

Mind disclosing some more info on the bot?  Language, libraries, etc?

It is written in Java. There are no libraries I wrote it completely from scratch. It can easily be used on any exchange, currently I wrote it very modular for every part of the bot, so any and every thing can easily be changed. It has a lot of logging and saving trades in many different formats for my own records. I can't talk about trading logic.

Trading logic can be picket up at any book store with  "Stocks for Dummies", I was assessing your bots probable ability.

Yeah no problem, it is a high price, cause I put a lot of time into it, and I feel like for a 250 BTC it is a price I can be comfortable selling it. I am not trying to make a profit off my bot, but I am not closed off to selling it. Just so you know where I am coming from.

What is the bot's performance like? Over what time span had it been tested? Is it fully automated or will I have to monitor it?

It would probably be easier if you could link me to your thread about your bot

Gains Stats? Screenshots?

Seriously, if you can prove it does what it says, it's something to mark.

Serious inquires I can show the screenshots, there isn't much it is all command line. I am not in the market to really sell it, hence the large price tag, it is more if your serious and want it you can get it.

Nope, not seriously inquiring.
