I'm genuinely interested in knowing which key feature, or service available through it,
would make (or already has made) someone permanently choose an altcoin over bitcoin?

disclaimer: i'm currently developing one, but i'm not looking here for the "1 million dollar answer" just want to see what other people think,
also the whitepaper is already available and don't plan on making any changes before it's operating.

I chose bitcoin than altcoin because bitcoin prices and market interest is much higher than altcoin, I'm not too concerned about the features or services available
maybe fast transaction, fast response, low fee.

Their own innovation such as Zero proof knowledge, Smart contract and other.

Not really feature or service related. The most important factor for most people (including me) is the community. Without a good community, the altcoin will never last long. Take HYPER as an example, their developer went missing half a year ago, today, they are still standing up despite some downfall because they have a great and big community.

As for feature or service, mine will be going to security. I don't really care much about service because as long as an altcoin have a good community and features, they will definitely have a good service (coming up).

So sad! This profile does not appear as the #1 result (on anonymous) Google searches anymore.

Time to be active on the crypto forums again? Proud to be one of the few Legendary members of the Sparkie Red Dot!

Gonna put this on my resume if I ever join a cryptocurrency/blockchain industry!

I agree with this Women  Grin

And it reminds me of the concept of innovation.. and how you all define it.
To me like the women said.. it doesn't exist.

The closest thing i could call innovative is ANON features but unfortunately i have to rationally call it a bad idea.
Other than that i don't see all this so called innovation people are touting all the time.
App's on a block chain ? Blogging ? uhhhm fuck NO!

And the HYPER guys are full of shit.
They are just bag holders playing the community card for profits.. like the little Doge kidiots did.
When in reality the community is an illusion.. it does NOT exist.
I proved it with Doge.

I won't even bother digging into the HYPER bullshit.. ok i will a bit Wink  Cool
Hey guy, if the dev left how come you got the keys to the Github account then ?
Oh you didn't ? well uhhh..  Cheesy

I lit up these HYPER idiots on another topic of theirs recently.
All they wanted to do is run a poll that had 98% of users vote to make a new coin.. so they can port over their bags.

AKA: Trapped bag holders with a dev MIA who are here spewing bullshit for profits
..crying "community"

Funny because the dev of Doge announced he was abandoning the project long ago because of a lack of community support.
And what have i heard of ever since ? Ohhhhhhhh Doge has such as COMMMMMUNITY  Cheesy
Uhhhhmmm your fucking retards.. GREEDY fucking retards.. sad pathetic bag holding RETARDS  Roll Eyes

i'm just looking for a casual conversation about it, not conducting market research..
There's no universal response to this, everyone pretty much has their own opinion and personal reasons, as demonstrated by the actual responses so far, and it's interesting to see their priorities.

There's a large number of people that already saw how they could improve (in their opinion) and acted on it by trying to implement their own solution, myself included, and are not waiting to game someone else's input.

"Which feature/service would make you permanently ditch bitcoin for an altcoin?"

Let me translate.

"Which far fetched idea would make the suckers give up their bitcoin for a worthless altcoin".

Its getting tough for the scammers to come up with something new to entice the suckers. Most everything has been covered already. We've ran the gamut of country coins, color coins, animal coins, anonymous coins, dapp crap, smart contracts, etc. etc. All these attempts at overthrowing bitcoin have been very successful at filling someone's pocket with someone else's btc. Other than that: they have failed miserably.

Let me be clear. I'm not accusing the OP of scamming. He could very well be altruistic and above board. I'm only giving my opinion on the sad state of altcoins from what I've witnessed these past 4 years.

I feel sorry for the honest projects and the little guys with vision. They end up paying the price for all the bad we've endured in crypto.

Finally, to answer the OP's question: If you have something population can replace their fiat with that can be used like real money and they do it ... hell ... I'm in.

Eveyone has tried to make up and invent features to try to be the next bitcoin and all have failed. Some of them became irrelevant but most became scams because it is either the developers made it a scam midway or a scam right from the beginning.

If your altcoin is not a scam, believe me one of these will happen. It will become a scam midway, it is a scam right from the beginning, or it will fail. The first 2 options are the best for you.

A direct exchange.

In my mind, a coin becomes "real" when you can buy it directly with US cash or sell it directly for US cash.

I guess anonymity will play a big factor in altcoin wars in 2017 so I will be looking more on anonymity and of course I don't want an ICO and it should be mineable by anyone just like Burstcoin  and zcash but the big factor that will want to go for your coin is community adoption, once I see a lot of people moving in I will do the same.

A direct exchange.

In my mind, a coin becomes "real" when you can buy it directly with US cash or sell it directly for US cash.

I kind of agree..

I think there must be a synergy between FIAT and Crypto Coins.
Users need to be able to swap them back & forth easily.

I was talking to a guy who owns a major File Sharing site the other day.
And he told me had issues with bills.. his hoster he switched to a while back takes Bitcoin only.
Problem is he does not know much about Crypto stuff..

So, having to explain a TON of shit and send a guy to jump through lots of hoops for the money conversation is a bitch.
AND it NEEDS to be done.. a lot !

This comment so far sets up my main point..
ANON features and compliance.

Exchanges started collecting user ID why now ?
Guys on Localbitcoins were arrested by the FBI in a Florida parking lot people.
So uhh duh ?
We have a problem.. and it goes far beyond the perception of Bitcoin etc.

If violating anti-money laundering laws gets Crypto users arrested then we have a problem guys.
And you think tacking on ANON shit will assist in smoothing over this conflict between the authorities ?
I think not.. don't be stupid.

And why does this matter ?

The point i just made *IS* the god damn barrier to adoption.

Which is what i posted here already as to what "Feature" is needed"

Dark Market Fentanyl Silk road Monero Crack & AK47's Coin is not what we need.
We need the majority of the world to adopt a world digital currency.
We do not need or want to cater to a small minority who will all end up in jail eventually.
And yeah a fuckton of the DM users do in fact get arrested on a regular basis.

I don't like the idea of reg's.
I DO like the idea of real adoption and usage though.. and if FIAT law is the barrier then we gotta figure out a solution.
A compromise will have to be made.. we have to suck it up and realize the lofty ambition of full decentralization and freedom etc and just not doable.. yet.
In the mean time we got to make this work.
Kind of hard when you are in a parking lot in Florida with a Swat team pointing guns at you.

first of all i would like to see it survive at least a year before i even consider thinking about that coin as a real project. then i would look at its adoption, about how much it is really being used not how much it is being traded.
because it is all about usability, you can add all kinds of "bling" to an altcoin to make it stand out for a short time but as long as nobody is "using" that coin as a real currency it is an automatic fail.

Weak hands have been complaining about missing out ever since bitcoin was $1 and never buy the dip.
Whales are those who keep buying the dip.
