True everybody is searching for the next big thing and don't want to be told thesame story twice and this create sheep mentality among speculators, this is not perculiar to Zcash alone even the ICO projects and overfunding too. A project that require 2000BTC ended up raising 17000BTC
Everybody has a lot of bitcoins stored in their cold wallet and they doesnt know where to invest these coins and when they see an ICO they start investing big in those and so is the reason most of the scammers got rich pretty fast and disappeared with the coins just like that and most of the projects raised more coins than what is needed for them.Zcash will crash and come down to $30 or below pretty soon but i hope Zcash mining is still profitable at this rate.
You are right and thats really common to happen on these days there are people who do have lots of bitcoin and some of them would really like to invest on which the hype is too high and without doing research or any other thing that related to the coin as long they put up money on a particular crowdfunding but sadly these are the ways to scam people easily just like what you mentioned. Zcash mining is still profitable though in my own view.

The reason investors do not take the time to study each coin before investing is because the project brief is always written in technical language and most people don't understand it.
So they just invest believing the developer knows what he's doing. Zcash was very bloody. People lost big sums.

That's not over yet. People can still make big sums when the going gets good but that wont be for a while i suppose.
