I have never bought anything from Ebay.I'm planing on spending 30,000$~ on avalon batch #2 is it compleatly save to buy. I'm scared that the seller wont ship it if the price of bitcoin is high, and only send it if the market crashes. Are there any scams I need to know and be careful about. I'm from bulgaria, does that matter? Also am i going to pay any some insane fees ( like 20%~ ) to get it across boarder?
Any info and tips and suggestions will be extreamly helpful.

The Bitcoin network protocol was designed to be extremely flexible. It can be used to create timed transactions, escrow transactions, multi-signature transactions, etc. The current features of the client only hint at what will be possible in the future.

Hi plazma,

Are you refering to this auction?: http://www.ebay.com/itm/AVALON-ASIC-Bitcoin-BTC-Miner-Preorder-batch-2-60-GHash-s-/261196897317?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3cd08c5c25

I'm the seller of this one. Your concern is valid, and I kinda have the same problem with buyers. They could only pay if the bitcoin price continues to rise. One possible solution would be that I change the shipping address, and tell avalon to send you a confirmation email that the address has changed. If you have any other idea how to solve this, please let me know.

The reason I'm selling my preorder is to be less dependent on the bitcoin price. I'm a student that invested in Bitcoins about a year ago, and now about 95% of my wealth is in bitcoins. I'm just trying to decrease the risk.

One more thing: You should be very careful on ebay, I actually came to bitcointalk to warn people about an ebay scam. Somebody just copied my order confirmation and now people are already bidding more than 5000$ on this fake. I'll post proof later on bitcointalk.

Good luck on the bidding!

I read your post like 10 times and I'm thinking about the options.
I dont know if you can change the shipping address. Also probably it can be changed back. Also how is payment made at ebay and when.
If any1 has experience with escrow it would be nice to leave some feedback maybe we can use it.

I think the best solution would be to use a reliable escrow system. I know about btcrow.com, but I have no idea if they can be trusted with that amount of money. I made a post on reddit a while ago, but nobody had any experience with them. It would be nice if e.g. MtGox or any other trusted party would offer an escrow service.

It's weird to say this here on bitcointalk, but maybe PayPal is the best option we have. In case I wouldn't ship the device (I will, of course, but I understand that you don't want to risk anything) you could chargeback, and in case I sent the device to you, I will keep enough evidence that PayPal wouldn't allow a chargeback. Not really sure though how I could proof to PayPal that I sent the item. I could maybe make a movie of how I pack the device and bring it to the postal office or something like that Smiley

Pretty sure when you are sending there is a option to receive document back that I have received whatever you shipped, I just dont know how this works exactly since probably they wont let me see open the packaged to see what is in it ( witch could be empty box for example ) and I still have to sing that i have received it.

This all is assuming Avalon ever ships the thing. That is just as much of a risk OP - that Avalon never ships!

True...

That sounds good.

btw: You do realize that you have to place an offer? You can't just buy it. I can imagine that the final price will be over 40'000$, I have already received an offer of somebody who was willing to pay that much.

For both parties, ebay has concerns.  I read that the Avalon site is moving the info from the "pre order 2" data and front end to the "pre order 3" data and front end.  3 allows address changes.

I can't verify that, but I read it on the internet...

If that is true, and if you only have 1 unit on order, then escrow should be easy.  Do you have more than 1 unit on order?

If you are still checking this thread, why did the pictures from your auction disappear.

You are not allowed to sell items (preorders) on eBay that cannot be delivered in 30 days.

http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/pre-sale.html

Quote
If you want to sell presale items, be sure to meet all of the following criteria:

Guarantee that the item will be available for shipping within 30 days from the purchase date. Be sure to clearly state this information in your listing.

Clearly indicate in the listing that the item is a presale item.

The handling time specified in your listing should reflect the time from the end of the listing until the item is shipped to the buyer—not the time the item is in your possession. Be sure to specify the correct handling time in your listing.

In the listing form, you need to use the default font size of 3 so people can easily see these sale terms.

Make sure your listing follows these guidelines. If it doesn't, it may be removed, and you may be subject to a range of other actions, including limits of your buying and selling privileges and suspension of your account.

This is from preorder sellers often stringing buyers along trying to get them to wait past the time that eBay disputes can be opened, and selling items that they don't have and might not get.

There was a technical problem with ebay, I couldn't re-add the images, and I couldn't edit the description. I was on the phone with ebay.com for about 30 minutes, and then they told me that this problem could not be fixed, and I'd have to re-list the item. Extremely annoying. I also had to talk to the american support, because I created the listing on ebay.com, and not ebay.ch. Ebay is a horrible website...

So now there's a new offer: http://www.ebay.com/itm/AVALON-ASIC-Bitcoin-BTC-Miner-Preorder-batch-2-60-GHash-s-/261198209710?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3cd0a062ae

It's also risky for the seller. But I'm sure we can find a solution.

According to avalon the device should ship on monday. As far as I know they have been quite reliable, so I hope the 30 days will work.

Monday? Which Monday? Lol

Seller if you have that on Monday you will make a hell of a lot more selling it if you have it IN HAND with pictures and can ship the next day. Selling a "preorder" won't make you as much.

This whole thread is fishy.

getting the asic in the first place is questionable... an ebay auction for the preorder?  ehhh... not such a good idea IMO!
