Hi Everyone,

I know we all hold a common interest in crypto currencies, probably primarily due to Bitcoin trading, but Mining is starting to pick up in India. Beware though, there are several scammers who sell weird MLM schemes based on Bitcoins or other crypto currencies. You should Only invest in crypto currencies if you have read a lot about it, see it having a stable future and understand the technology behind it. Once you have done all that, I believe the only two safe routes of investment are :

Buying Crypto Currencies and trading them at exchanges, or holding them if you believe in going long for larger profits.
Investing in setting up mining hardware, keeping it up and running with the latest software, generating crypto currencies through mining, and then trading, selling or holding it.

Now while the former is easier, its still largely open to financial risk. I personally chose to go with the latter, that is Mining, because I understood computers and it interested me. But for someone who is new to this, the amount of information that you need to assimilate and process is daunting. This is where people who sell pre-built mining computers come in.

I've been into mining for a while, started with Ethereum in August this year post the introduction of the RX 470 cards, which is the first time mining at India's temps and electricity costs made sense.
I have already almost recovered my initial investment, and am bullish on the future of crypto currency mining.
I grew my personal setup to 1000MH/s at which point I hit the electrical capacity of my current apartment. So I began building rigs for other people. I have sold a few Rigs in Bangalore and in Delhi.
I use Bios Mods and Voltage tweaks to keep power consumption to under 100W per card while getting 25.5 Mh/s (Eth) or 170 Sol/s (Zec).
My cost structure is simple : 25k per card. So a 4 Card Rig is 100K, a 5 Card Rig is 125K, a 7 card Rig is 175K and so on.

If you are interested in purchasing such a rig from me directly, please go to this thread for more information https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1703590

In anycase, even if you decide to build your own machine, please do, I would love to see the Indian Mining scene grow, our neighbor China already holds about 70% of the worlds mining hashpower and I believe we have as lot of potential as well.

Every time a block is mined, a certain amount of BTC (called the subsidy) is created out of thin air and given to the miner. The subsidy halves every four years and will reach 0 in about 130 years.

Hi Shyam,

I've focused on Eth primarily because its been the most profitable coin to mine on the RX 470's that I have. I have 9 rigs of varying sizes, from 4 card to 7 card rigs. I hash at 1000mh/s on Eth or around 9000sols/s on zcash. Good to see other Indian miners with multiple rigs Smiley what motherboards do you use?

motherboard i used are Asrock H97 Anniversary. I also have Asus H170 Pro Gaming motherboard with 6 PCIe slots but only takes 4 GPUs of RX470. But the same board works all 6 GPUs of R7 370. I dont know whats the reason.

GTX 1060 6Gb are good cards to mine Ethereum, Zcash or Monero, any crypto currency. The Nvidia 730 is shit though, please avoid it.

Power Hungry??? Its the most power efficient mining card on the market. As for ROI, what did you expect? 2 month ROI? Why would the manufacture sell any cards then, why not keep them and mine themselves?

Hi,

I am from chennai. I am thinking of getting into Ethereum + Altcoin (DCR) mining. I am not interested in buying a rig immediately. I would like to start Mining with a PC and decent graphic card for a month or so. If I am comfortable with the outcome may be I will be thinking of buying rigs and have a proper setup in Chennai.

Can you guys provide configuration details for Medium Budget PC suitable for Ethereum + DCR mining?
I would like to know your opinion on spending money on hardware instead of buying ETH directly.
Thanks guys.

In all honestly its probably going to be more profitable to just buy the crypto currency and hold it, than it would be to buy hardware to mine it.
The only reason I got into mining was because its lower risk, you own the hardware which is a tangible product, and you can resell it later and recover atleast half your investments. So that is a decision everyone has to make.
Now if you want to get started mining, its always best to try with what you have first, or as you said try out with one graphics card just to get a feel of things and understand some basics. Start with that and see if mining is for you. Mining requires both time and knowledge, and if you are unwilling to invest either, its best to stay away.
There are a lot of setup/beginners guides on these forums, I suggest you go through them, they will help a lot. If you want to buy something prebuilt from me, drop me a Pm.

Hi, I just want to start with mining.
Are msi's NVIDIA graphics card good?
or do I need to venture a bit from my local market to get AMD's product.

And are risers completely necessary, I'm not finding them in my local market.
And what motherboard would you suggest for upto 4 GPUs?

There are probably 50 types of Risers are available on Amazon. You can also buy from Ebay. Go for newer version like v9.

Nvidia GTX 1060 6GB is good - ETH hashrate is 19.7 MH/s and ZEC 300 Sol/s.
