This week i set up a Mining rig with on low budget (450USD). In the last days i read some threads about effiency and power consumption from
It´s not the most effiency rig but i think its acceptable for the moment. I check the WhatToMine - Crypto coins mining calculator to check the Profit. Power Costs at 0.19USD. With that factor i make 0.6 USD profit/day.
I use a Asus R9 280 Direct CU 2 and a Asus R9 280X Direct CU 2 until 2 days.
I notice that the 280 is more efficient than 280x, so i sell the 280x an order a second Asus R9 280 Direct CU 2 for under 110USD. The 280 come up with a better Speedrate by less power consumption.

My actual system:      Gigabyte 970A
                              AMD FX4100 / 8 GB Ram
                              2x Asus R9 280 Direct CU 2

   Algo/speed/Watt:    cryptonight (dwarfpool) / 1.2kh/s - 340Watt                       ><
                               Equihash (Supernova zcash Pool)    / 400h/s  - 400Watt

What do you think about this Setup and the power consumption? For comparison: What are your results with 2GPUs? Is this System an efficient system?

Thank you in advance,

X

280=280x

Efficiency is exactly the same since its the exact same GPU chipset.

Since your power is expensive you need to buy the 470/480.

I have no idea why the 280x getting lower Hasrate on both of the Algos.. Huh

Thank you, i will look for..maybe in the distant future.. Smiley

got a stable be quite 700Watt PSU system onboard. I tried default and a few different Setting. GPU tweak settings: clock 980Mhz, GPU V (min) 1119mV, and power target (min) so 80% the results with this profile, i post before..

In this thread below this guy came to the same conlusion.
https://forum.ethereum.org/discussion/7661/mining-with-r9-280x-and-r9-280

I will proceed with the 280s. the third one is on the way  Smiley..

280/x are rebranded 7950/70. Really good space heaters if you need one.

Not quite identical, but partly so.

The R9 series had slightly faster RAM by default, and some upgraded to the BIOS.
The actual GPU chip appears to have been identical in these specific cases though except perhaps for markings ON the chip.

If you want good space heaters, you have to go to the HD 7990, the R9 295x, or in a pinch the R9 290 and R9 290x cards.
